It’s best to follow the vehicles manual specifications. Adding too much oil can cause it to foam. This CX-5 requires 4.5 L. Checking the dip stick is important too.

Thanks for the video! I have a '16 CX-5 and am looking for a replacement unit (my OEM one got smashed in and doesn't display anything anymore). The audio and everything still works I just can't see where I'm navigating too. My concern is that I'm afraid of losing functions like how to reset the service light after doing oil changes, rotating tires, etc.. Have you had this issue with the aftermarket radio you installed? Does the service light still come on? or is that something that ONLY turns on/activates with the OEM infotainment system? Also, I assume with these aftermarket radios you also lose the audio functions on the steering wheel, right?

Did that red wire come with the radio?? & how did you get the red wire to reach all the way in the back??
@NBnKB25254 жыл бұрын
No, I had to purchase the wire separately. It’s was a total of 25 ft. I tied one end of the wire to the end of a x-large zip tie and weaved it from the radio, behind the steering wheel, down passed the interior fuse box and tucked it under the lower plastic trim along the driver and backseat doorways. Then I used a detailer tool to detach a small area of the plastic interior of the trunk, and used the x-large zip tie to push the wire behind it the until it reached the taillight connectors.

@NBnKB25254 жыл бұрын
Sergey Vorobiev This JVS unit does come with wiring that needs to be connected to the vehicles corresponding wiring. I did purchase a wiring harness kit separately so I would not have to cut off the vehicles original multi-pin connectors. The kit just needed to have the its wires connected to the unit’s wires and then it just connects to the vehicles original multi-pin connectors.

@@NBnKB2525 is it that crutchfield harness kit? the one that comes with fascia and all necessary connections?
@NBnKB25254 жыл бұрын
Sergey Vorobiev Crutchfield just sells the necessary wiring kits made by various other companies. The main wiring harness I used is made by Crux (SWRMZ-64C Wiring Interface). The backup camera connection required an additional harness by Axxess (AX-MAZCAM-6V Backup Camera Harness) and a harness by Metra (40-HD10 Antenna Adapter) is used to receive digital and analog radio stations.

@@NBnKB2525 Good to know mine is a 2014, got it in Oct 2018 and has about 109,500 miles. It's the 2.0L, 6speed manual. Had to replace the PCV valve because was burning oil. Then soon after the left strut mount went, within a month the other side went. After that I had to replace 2 of the door handles, they seemed to fail (not sure if previous owner did something that they failed). I also replaced one of the axels due to noise but it didn't solve it. There is currently a few different drive train noises I hear when its cold out and the brakes are noisy too. The battery I think will need to be changed soon, looks original and yeah its pretty weak at times. I also changed the front swaybar linkages but old ones seemed fine. Also topped off the transmission fluid, it was low. All small things but a bit annoying.

@@dexterm1285 A year later and another $1600 of work went into it just a few months ago including seized rear callipers (so replaced the whole rear brakes). Both axels in the front were noisy and leaking so were replaced, along with the front control arms which had to be replaced as the ball joints and the control arms was one piece with the OEM variant. I still have the rust on the roof left, the rear engine mount is blown and the other strut bearing went as well. I'm also at 116k. Apart from the roof rust I should be able to get it back to 100% working order soon.

so do you loose reverse camera screen and the specific car/mazda setting when you install an aftermarket deck?
@NBnKB25254 жыл бұрын
Radek Woj Hello, I can still use the rearview camera but I had to purchase additional wire to connect the unit to the backup light wires to power the camera after installing the headunit. This also activates the camera when the car in put in reverse. Any car specific settings needed to be set before removing the OEM headunit. (Eg. door lock settings, auto off highlight duration time) Unfortunately, if I ever wanted to adjust these things I would have to replace the aftermarket unit with OEM unit temporarily. Hope this helps.
@radekw7084 жыл бұрын
@@NBnKB2525 Yeah this is great, makes sense. I don't know if I'm willing to part with those functions. I managed to upgrade the tweeters in the dash of the car and it really made a huge difference. If you don't have speakers there, the wiring is all there for you just plug in and away you go. I got Kenwood KFC835C 3.5" speakers and what a difference. There is also a middle panel in the dash but no wiring for a speaker is there unless you have the bose premium audio which I do not. I thought I was going to have to replace all the speakers but turns out I just needed those tweeters. My only complaint about the head unit is how slow it is, and how slow it reads USB especially if you plugin like 8gb or 16gb drive. It also starts playback all over again after you turn it off for a while ... quite annoying.
