How many followers do you think I have based on these photos?
@ShchepinovАй бұрын
You didn't tell the most important thing. What shutter mode do you use? Mechanical/EFCS/Electronic?
@EvanOlbrichtАй бұрын
That totally depends on what I'm shooting. Usually, I use electronic because of the amazing shutter speed, but I have seen some balls warp within some sports. So totally depends on what sport I'm shooting. Usually I would say electronic for most sports though.
@ShchepinovАй бұрын
@@EvanOlbricht Hmm. Did you see rolling shutter when people, for example, running? I think the readout speed is not bad, but no what i need for shooting sports, and I'm very surprised that you shoot in electronic. Thanks for answer.
@EvanOlbrichtАй бұрын
@@Shchepinov Great question. I don't see a rolling shutter when shooting in electronic. Usually, if I do want really high-quality photos I will shoot in mechanic just because I know I won't have any problems.
@ShchepinovАй бұрын
@@EvanOlbricht I forgot to say one thing! With electronic shutter, your photos has 12-bit color depth instead of 14 in EFCS/Mechanical.
@EvanOlbrichtАй бұрын
Yes, it does. But I haven't seen much of a difference at all. Honestly, the Canon colors are so good, and if you shoot in raw, you can't tell the difference. That said if you are shooting for a client or looking to do a big print, shoot in mechanical just to make sure you are getting the highest quality photo possible. Just for me, in certain situations where I am looking for that really high shutter speed or low noise when shooting, I will usually choose electronic because the results are very similar.

Hii, when you say at 4.56 that printing something bigger than 20 * 30, shot with your previous cropped sensor camera... you mean 20 inches I guess... right? Sorry I'm Italian, just to be sure you are not talking about cm. It would be very worrying . Thank you About R5 I'm tempted to buy a new one today for 2500 euro in a shop I trust with very low prices - a used one in perfect conditions as I want costs no less than 2100 € in Europe - or await for the new R6 mk III. I'm basically a hobbyist-photographer so I would prefere a reflex but R5 is superior to 5d mk IV and I would like to start shooting videos, especially about basketball at the playground and I'm looking for 4k 120p capability. R5 would be perfect for photography but has a very evident rolling shutter effect in quick subjects scenes that would affect videos. The new one looks a little less prone thou not perfect at all but it's too expensive. That's why I'm considering the R6 III that could present less rolling shutter thou it will have a less resolution sensor for sure - 24 Mpixel probably -. I'm very doubtful as I consider 45 Mpixel a right resolution and 24 a little poor for good quality storing and printing in the future
@EvanOlbrichtАй бұрын
I got the R5 because of the 45 Mpixel sensor which is amazing. I have cropped images by a lot and then done prints at 24x36 inches and they look amazing. And yes, whenever I talk about 20x30, I am talking in inches when printing. I should have made that more clear so that's my bad haha. Overall though, I do think the R5 is worth it if you need the bigger sensor for printing and the 4k 120 which looks amazing in video as well. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Writing stuff down helps out a lot. It’s good to put ideas to words and it gives a clearer focus on what you want to do and accomplish. I think reflecting on the pictures you took and writing some thoughts about what you like and what you want to work on for next shoot can also motivate you to grow as a photographer. Thanks for the tips!

Do you find that primes are much sharper than zoom?
@EvanOlbrichtАй бұрын
I honestly see a very small difference. I only use zoom lenses for sports photography and have never had any problems with sharpness of a photo. I do use a 50 mm f1.8 in my water housing and notice those photos are very sharp but that is also because it’s a low aperture.

Lots of good ideas! Varying the focal length is good to try, especially since it’s easy to get the same type of shots every game. It’s also good to set a time limit to focus on what you’re shooting. Mentorship and seeking feedback helps a lot as well. I have a lot of skills I want to improve at (portraits, studio lighting, flash, editing) so I think making mini projects will help out a lot. Thanks for the tips!

thanks for the tip. so same for the vid? is this mean I don't need ND filter? what is your opinion?
@EvanOlbricht2 ай бұрын
Yes, it does help with videos but it really depends on what frame rate you’re shooting at. Like I never use a ND filter because I don’t feel like I need it with the content that I’m shooting but I know a lot of people that do and they take amazing videos. So I really think it depends on what you’re using it for.
