I am looking at snagging this bike this weekend (SIZE L). I am 6', 190 lbs. I just sold my 2021 CUBE Stereo HPC Race 140 LARGE. Loved the bike just bottomed it out a few times. Looking to upgrade to a bigger squish, better components. I enjoy doing it all. This would be my everyday bike here in Southern Alberta, trails, medium jumps and drops, downs and ups. Hard to decide. Feels like mixed reviews. Wish I could have kept my other bike to compare side by side. Any other tips?

I ride mine all the time, and it makes a tremendous one-bike solution. It is the bike I have owned the longest to date. If riding it on everything you describe, run it in high mode as a 29er. I think Mullet is only for the steeper and very tight riding on this bike. So many reviewers start out telling you how great a bike is because of their contract and then pivot (no pun intended) to a changed message when something new comes out. They are paid to say it is better; it is why I started this; I wouldn't say I like that about influencer behavior. A large will be great, and a suspension setup will be important. Don't run your compression fully open; damping is essential to all bikes. Follow their recommendations and then make small changes from there. I do big climb days with this bike, and while it is not an XC bike, it climbs well and is not a miserable experience. Then you point it in the direction of the party, and the confidence you gain is incredible. It is a playful bike that can smash big obstacles as well. Enjoy the bike, it is one of the better rides out there to own!

at a 60/inch lb spring rate and shooting off from an assumption that you look to be 175lbs at most, you are over sprung. Plus the trail you are running appear to be not suited for the spring rate that you are running.

Late to the party, but this was the most helpful review of this bike that I have seen. It's either this, a Yeti SB135, an Evil Offering, a new 5010 to replace my old 5010, or I just stick with my old 5010 because a bike that used to be fun to ride . . . is still fun to ride. And I don't know where that trail is that you showed, but it sure seems familiar...

Thanks for the video, very informative. I have strength issues and I don't think I'll be able to lift my heavy bikes onto the rack. I see there is a bolt that limits how far back the rack can lean. If this bolt was removed, would it be possible to lower the baskets to the ground? I am thinking that a rope attached to my RV would be used to raise/lower the rack. Thanks.

You should call Ali and ask. He is awesome and might have. Solution. The upper bolt does more than stop tilt, it is also tension.

I ride mostly @ Santos in Florida, I’m trying to decide between a Shadowcat and Trail 429. I mostly ride greens and blues, not looking to race or PR everything just really enjoy biking and riding with friends and my kiddo. I am 5’6 almost 5’7 with a longer torso, and shorter inseam (30”) demoed a Medium Shadowcat and Small Trail 429 @ the recent Fat Tire Festival and loved them both, but really enjoyed riding the Shadowcat a little more. I am planning to demo/test ride a Medium in the Trail 429 as the front cockpit of that bike in a small felt a little cramped to me. I’m coming from an older Giant Ladies Anthem with 26” Wheels. Pivot is the first 29er I’ve tried that actually made me consider getting one. Any suggestions one which might be better??
@LoamRoamer
@LoamRoamer 5 ай бұрын
The 429 is a better trail bike for flatter trails and riding open single track in Florida. And yeah, a medium would be way better. The shadowcat tends to be more fun on tight twisty single track. That is my opinion and either will be fun, but the 429 will ride better overall I believe

It fits and can be used, but it is very tight. The rebound adjustment is difficult to use, and it is not a good fit for the bike.
