i told to my son "after i fix it i will throw it already. LOL he keeps on breaking the puzzle and i have a hard time fixing it,! when i told him to fix because he was the one who broke it, he just keeps on saying i cannnt please fixxx so here i am . i will throw it!!

There's always different shapes, i got a square inception looking one. The pieces are different colors, but it has the same base structure

I found mine recently. I got it as a kid. I came looking because I've long since lost the cover and the box and I couldn't remember how many combinations there were. I've found 4 recently. Looks like I've got a few to go. Lol.

The makers needed to make it snap on friendly which its not. Reassembling is an exercise in diaster .

Very cool! I was fortunate enough to get my hands on the zauberkreuz puzzle recently and have used your tutorial and Jaap's website to get ideas on how to solve it. Working on my own way to solve it that relies heavily on the 3-cycle. This seems like a good next puzzle to try once I've mastered that. Have you done any analysis on the number of permutations that are possible?

Assuming I did the calculations correctly, there are 1,216,451,004,088,320,000 possible arrangements of the puzzle. This is only 1/42 of the 21! possible ways to arrange the pieces if we could pick them up and move them. So this puzzle seems to have some interesting group structure. It's not just the symmetric group or the alternating group that is typical to sliding puzzles.

Yes, at the end of the solve, I have always been left with a 3-tile cycle, so there are definitely fewer states than a similar sliding puzzle with a gap

Seems that when the puzzle is in its "home" position (cross is centered on the board), then the center piece is always in the center position. The other 20 pieces form the alternating group, so there are 20!/2 possible permutations, which interestingly is the same # of permutations for the Zauberkreuz@@22PUZZLE22
