And yeah bro...i agree with what you're saying....it seems kind of rude to have multiple people there at the same time for an estimate. Whoever that was that pissed you off may have been trying to give you some constructive criticism ...to help you out..bro if you make a video about something and post it on KZbin you can't get mad when people chime in with their opinions.

@jamesofcordova comments on KZbin need to stay on KZbin, not my work email. I dont mind criticism at all, but being upset with me for something that someone else said is ridiculous. That's what got me fired up. I appreciate any constructive criticism, because it makes me better.

Hey brother! Just found your channel and subscribed. New Hope Cutz and I are brothers from different mothers. I've been in business for 25 years, and I have never bagged clippings, and never will. I am a FIRM BELIEVER in putting the nutrients back into the ground. THAT is the tid bit of info that customers do not understand, and it's our job as the "pros" to inform them that the practice of removing all organic material is a huge detriment to their lawn. If need be, provide them printed information from credible sources that they can read that confirm what you've told them. I mulch EVERYTHING from lawn clippings to leaves and some pinestraw. Any material that falls to the ground, even lawn clippings, add netrients to the ground. After I mulch them, I use my gravely machines to spread the clippings. When we're finished, you CAN NOT see them. JMO, but bagging adds weight to the machine and, over time, will leave brown streaks and will accentuate the brown streaks in the grass. I don't know what state you're in, you sound like you a southerner. I'm in NC, 22 miles east of Ft. Bragg. We have a modge podge of grasses, including zoisa, bermuda, centipede, fescue, rye, bahia, and St. Augustine. I don't bag any of them. I chose to show my customers the benefits of leaving the clippings and letting nature do its job. Good luck with your channel and your business.

@BigSouthOutdoorsTV i get it, but I've tried all of that. I agree with you 100%, but like the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink it. There are a lot of white-collar folks in my area that know nothing at all about lawn care, and when you present them with facts, the main response is "my kids play outside, and I don't want them tracking grass clippings in" or "my pet is allergic to grass clippings". If I don't bag, I won't make money. It's frustrating.
@BigSouthOutdoorsTV18 күн бұрын
@tankslawnmaintenance5230 I know exactly where you are. Yes, it's frustrating, but don't do what I've done sooooo many times. Do what the customer asks, you invest the money to accommodate their request, only to have them hire someone else. That's why I stopped going out of my way, spending access money to purchase additional equipment.
@tankslawnmaintenance523018 күн бұрын
@BigSouthOutdoorsTV i definitely understand that, as I've been bitten by that as well. There's a very large market for bagging here.

I did logistics for the No.1 Ct. Cummins and Kohler generator installers from 8kw to 1 meg. I did the 8 to 60K. We were very well know and often contacted by the state and municipalities looking for quotes. Well, we stop giving them out. We told them all that we will not be the lowest. Actually we'll probably be the highest and you only accept the low bidder. They wanted it anyway because statue requires 3 bids. A quality bid was very time consuming. They all eventually stop calling.

I usually get 3 quotes for any work I need done that I am not able to perform. Like roof tree service...I don't shop for the best price per se but I do let them all know I am getting 3 estimates. I don't have contractors come at the same time ever but like I said I do let them know about other estimates. I like to meet them ask some questions and try and get a feel for their character. Sometimes the lowest price doesn't mean quality work. I think it's silly to think we are not competing for work as I am self employed as well.

So I’m still part time but I still present a professional look and act professionally. My truck is clean, my trailer and equipment is clean. I’ve got equipment defender racks on the trailer. I wear hats with my business logo, shirts with the business logo, website and phone number. I take a lot of pride in myself and what I do and have way too much money tied up into everything not to be professional.

I live in NC and I was told by the city, my tax person and insurance agent that I’m not required to have a license for lawn service. I do have a $2 million dollar insurance policy. I’m currently using my personal auto insurance for my truck but next year I’m putting that truck on a commercial auto policy.
@tankslawnmaintenance523026 күн бұрын
@MattMan91 no requirement to have a license is a plus. In GA, they want you to be licensed for lawn maintenance and then licensed for chemicals if you use them. Itemize, I guess you can say. As far as commercial auto, get your ducks in a row before you go full time because you will likely not be making the amount of money you're used to making once you leave your 9-5 job. Get everything that you know you will need from equipment to admin stuff. You'll be glad you did.

@reaper10mm1720 күн бұрын
@tankslawnmaintenance5230 Absolutely. I've just found that when you send out the scope to the professional trades, they always catch things that are missed in the scope. Never fails that a couple scope revisions need to be sent out to everyone. Not to mention the 10 emails with clarifications. I much rather have those conversations as a group and send 1 revision. I have never been a lowest price gets the job every time. Timely and a detailed proposal always gets my attention. If I receive a 2 sentence proposal that is very vague, to me that speaks to what their quality of work probably is like.

interesting. I hope he finds the good-looking cheap grass guy. Honestly, I hate it when I see customers judge someone by the appearance. If the guy is not stealing, smoking crack on the job, and does a good job, then why judge their appearance. The guy gave you the price you wanted and gave you great service, did not tear of anything. Then what's the problem. People don't understand someone else's situation by the way they look. maybe the guy has a bill to pay and just needs to get the work.. I tell people don't judge a book by its cover. What the guy should have done is offer him a leg up and offer of getting him some shirts, or shoes. Be the helping hand vs the judgmental eye!
@tankslawnmaintenance523027 күн бұрын
@NewHopeCutzandLawnCare i agree with everything you're saying, especially about the "good looking cheap grass guy" part, but the reality is that there are a ton of folks out there that think that way. I’m a retired gardener. I live in a Log Cabin under giant Redwoods, coastal mountains N/W of Monterey Bay, California. I was the gardener of many rich and famous in Southern California, made big money…maybe too much! Got addicted to crack/alcohol, lost it all. Got sober, 30+ years, recovered my marriage, family and career. I had a State Pesticide Applicators License, that open a lot of doors after my failure. Moved north, landed a job a Lead Gardener for the second wealthiest County in the nation. I didn’t want to try to open a business her in this area, too many left wing hippies afraid of chemicals. Didn’t want to go the civil service route but it was a choice I had to make to provide for family. Anyway, I tell any young guy I meet trying to find his way in life, get a lawn mower, weed wacker and blower, start knocking on doors, keep the greenest lawn in the block and your business will grow. It is hard work but I made college degree money gardening.🇺🇸🙏⛰🌲

Trying to decide between this or accelerator XL with 6.2 capacity vs 4.4.. do you think the quality is just as good for $200 difference ? Don't want to get off every 5 min if I can add 2 cubic feet and that would help.what would you do in your experience?
