It's a reserve Aoki lock made more popular by by Chris Wojick. This will immediately go into my backside 50/50 bag. Love it!

So it's kinda like a toe hold Essentially, but your using your arm pit to get the rotation correct?

I tap as soon as someone drops like that. Does he want to kick his leg through?

Is it IBJJF legal since it is not straight footlock?
@OnGuardBJJ
@OnGuardBJJ 9 күн бұрын
@bolo4970 definitely legal brown belt and up, and I saw someone use it legally as a blue or purple this year at no gi worlds... it's the ibjjf referee factor. Depends. Use at your own discretion, because half the time they will dq you for looking at them wrong.

Super helpful. Hey could you teach what the top guy should be doing too? I like when you said you want to keep his knees apart, which means he wants to keep his knees close? I want to understand what game is being played but most instructionals only focus on one perspective at a time. Thank you

@@OnGuardBJJ what's the guy on top trying to do?
@OnGuardBJJ
@OnGuardBJJ 18 күн бұрын
@robe8041 generally, the top player is trying to backstep to the same side as the entangled leg and disconnect/control the guard player's legs. This will create passing opportunities.
@OnGuardBJJ
@OnGuardBJJ 18 күн бұрын
@robe8041 top player can try to just base out for 1 game, disconnect legs but stay in the pocket for game 2, completely escape all connections for game 3, or pass the guard for game 4. These are just different constraints/tasks you can give the top player.

Be careful if you're the bottom person with your bottom foot hooking under their shin - if you've got this style of half guard locked in and they sprawl you can get your leg caught and essentially inside heel hook yourself.

My favourite move to do from seated guard, even as a silly whitebelt I sometimes catch upper belts with this

I’d say a tripod or knee ride transition would be more effective, just saying half and Z guard players know ya want to redirect the knee shield, so they have transitions ready for the pressure passer. most definitely a good pressure camping position

Great vid. Duh moment of realization for many including myself. Attempting hitchhiker often too early when they haven't given up the base hand or go 2-on-1 leads to spider web usually. On the flip side, as you mentioned, not capitalizing the timing when they give up the hand base to go for a stack.
