I heard once on a learning channel program, that the angle of your cut on a branch, determines the direction of growth.

@@PowertotheFlower thanks! I’m thinking if I could just plant it direct to my backyard than in pot… because I only have 3-5 fruits every season. 😅

I am around Daytona and grew a lemon tree from seed that I took from my one of neighbor's Lemons. It's still in the pot has one branch and the tree itself is now about 6' tall. It's 2 years old and I want to get it in the ground this year. Do I cut the top? At this rate it will be 10 feet and look stupid with this 1 branch.

What people may not know is you can make a nice Lemon Leaf Tea which is a natural sedative, calming and promotes anti anxieties....do not throw away the leaves, you can freeze them or dry them out to make Lemon Teas!!!

Will this "scoring" method also work on olive trees, or bougainvilleas, to make them more bushy ? Thanks.

I love your flowers. The dianthus is amazing. The fragrance that you get from that little flower is pure magic. You get a lot more flowers when you cut the little stems from the flowers that stopped blooming. There are different cultivars. The maiden pink is a very popular cultivar. I planted them in a planter that holds a lot of wood chips. They really seem to love that. Unlike violets, they do not like the wood chips at all. But the dianthus also likes to be planted between some rocks. In a pot or planter they form a compact cluster with many little flowers. In the full soil they intend to spread a bit more with less flowers. This year it was the first year that I tried seeding a variety of wild flower and poppy seeds. But the weather was so bad in my country that the first months of the year nothing was willing to germinate while I was seeding at the recommended time of the year. Now it is the first week of summer and we finally have some better temperatures and less rain with some sunshine. A few days ago I have sown a lot of seeds in pots and planters so that I could put them at the warmest and most sunny spot in my garden, and that went well. Most of the seeds germinated pretty well. But now I have to protect the seedling against the sun otherwise it will get too hot since it is already summer, and now I am in the situation that when the sun does come out it is too intense for the seedlings. So to protect the seedlings from getting too hot I am using some shade cloth so that the seedlings can grow a bit more while protected and become more sun and heat tolerant as they grow bigger. But your little patio sure is an inspiration. One day I hope to have many flowers in my borders as well. But I am still in the learning stage when it comes to planting in the soil, and what will work with my local conditions. Because my borders are pretty shady during the day.

I have heard so many different opinions on what to plant potted roses in. My first try was more like what they do in England and it was too heavy. What do you use? My potted roses are in a greenhouse in zone 7 because of our constant winds. Thank you!

My first experience with Proven Winners, and my last. I ordered and got an arborvitae that came in a box clearly labeled "This End Up" with arrows, etc. FedEx dumped it on my porch on it's side, dislodging all of the ball soil and leaving me with a slapdash rescue job to try and recover it for later planting. When I raised the issue with Proven Losers, as I call them, they said "oh, yeah...FedEx doesn't always do the best job...", yada, yada. It appears that when ordering, one must be aware that Proven Losers puts the well-being of their chosen shipper FedEx above that of customer satisfaction. Oh, and there are two companies: Proven Winners vs. Proven Winners Direct. When I ordered, there was no distinction made. First, Proven Losers (not Direct) said that if I could send them a pic. of the "as received" condition (now impossible), they'd 'work with me". "Work with me" means a haggling process that is now pointless since I gave the thing first aid in hopes it'll recover. But it's moot because subsequent emails now claim that I didn't order from "Proven Winners Direct" but "Proven Winners"...my invoice copy says "Proven Winners" -- basta! Off into Neverneverland goes my $76...maybe my first aid will rescue the poor thing. I have multiple planters that I need to order Anna's Ball miniature arborvitae for. But it won't be from "Proven Losers" Next time...Monrovia!

I've heard that fertilizing organically doesn't work in containers, since the soilless growing medium (and the enclosed environment) isn't conducive to letting the necessary microorganisms flourish, which are needed to break down organic fertilizer into the elements that the plant can utilize. Your roses seem to be doing just fine though.
