Great tips as long as you have a temperature control. I guess I'm still an old school burner. Thank you for your time in making this video.

Thank you. I used a burner without a temperature control for many years. I would usually blow on the point with my breath to help cool it down, which worked quite well, lol. The temp dial is definitely helpful, but not necessary. :)

Beautiful tutorial & easy to follow and understand. Question - what is recommended to seal the piece that won’t cause the paint to run?

Somewhat surprised that there is no equipment to vent out or absorb the fumes... unless I missed it as I scan through the video.

I burn mostly on basswood, which doesn't produce much smoke or fumes unless I burn solid black backgrounds. In that case, I just open a window. But safety is super important and great job picking up on that! If I were to burn on other woods that make a lot of smoke, I would work outside and wear a respirator.

If you use wax-based prismacolor pencils over a piece of wood burning. what then do you use to seal the project with? I’ve had good luck with water-based Polycrylic clear coats. Would that work?

I have a question …if you use Prismacolor pencils to add color to any of your projects ( which I have not done yet). What is the best way to seal the wood-burning piece after applying the wax-based prismacolored pencils over my woodburning piece ….in the past I have had good luck with polycrylic clear top coats, but those are brush-on They do offer a spray in a satin …and I was wondering if that would work over these pencils.

Hi, I know this video has been up for a couple years, but I just came across it and I wanted to ask …..after applying the prismacolor premium wax-based pencils to your woodburning piece, like you did…. What do you use as a final seal for the piece ..? I’ve had good luck in the past with polycrylic, Matt or satin brush on finishes, but I was wondering what you would seal this tiger piece you did with …? Would Polycrylic ‘spray’ semi-gloss work as a first coat and then the brush on after..or is the polycrylic (water-based) not compatible with the prismacolor pencils?
