I do not see how to do this method when the shaft is in the transmission. I wqoulds like to see someone do this method when in the transmission

Its more to show where the springs should sit as many struggle getting that right. You can do it with transmission in place if you're refitting lever shaft or replacing its spring.

It may be, however if fault light returns, you may have to pinpoint it - often front impact sensors below headlights and behind wheel arch covers. These often end up corroded. A decent scanner will find it - as will the very cheap Thinkdiag code scanner that works in conjunction with your phone. As always, you MUST disconnect battery before messing with parts of SRS system. Good luck.

Hold the remote and point it at your phone camera. Do you see the light when you press buttons? That would at least establish whether its remote or sensor at fault.
