I've come back here and there to this game quite a few times over the past couple years, I only answer requests myself though I must admit, I always mute the OST whenever I play it though, I blame the AuDHD, I need something higher energy to make up for the dopamine deficiency of my gamer brain The game design is a neat bit of psychological trickery to minimize bad actors and maximize genuine effort and participation, I'd love to see more games attempt to try and use similar tricks to reduce toxicity, rather than employing the Counter Strike esque method of just saying "grow a spine, 4head, it's da Internet" to justify vileness I might not ever be cared about by anyone directly, but I can at least make the world a better place in some cosmic way (fitting with your star anology), and Kind Words lets me do that from time to time Great video! I enjoyed the coverage :)

So your whole take has definitely opened up the fact that I took a more neurotypical approach to this (as did most of the research I found), and I appreciate you bringing the AuDHD perspective up! I can still fully imagine 98% of my 'Tism Friends just zeroing in on the responses like you have. And honestly, fair take on the music; different folks' baselines are at different levels, and if you need more stim to be able to meet the game where it's at, you gotta do you. I'm sure with as focused and functionally-'recorded' as the entire Kind Words experience is (having to commit your words to the server, among other things), it makes it that much easier to hold people accountable and curate that whole Vibe they're going for. The paid element might be a small deterrent, too (with Counter Strike and a number of its contemporaries being free). There's a lot of deep-rooted issues that need to be addressed and help provided over time, I think; not an easy fix when the problems are seemingly-foundational to society. Still time to cultivate kindness and caring in the Real Space, but it's nice to just toss a little stardust into the wind every so often. 💛 Glad you enjoyed it!

YES, new publicity push is working! 🥳 Trying to match the sticker to the letter has brought me SO much joy, like some funky, self-made game element in an experience that isn't traditionally "game-y." Of course, Ella's relentless positivity makes me feel like a winner regardless, so moot point. You will absolutely see me around Kind Words 2-ville after the live drop! Gotta dive face-first into their new areas to make a follow-up video! 💙 Thanks for watching!

Yeah alright, you got me good with this one dude, I may have teared up a bit. I haven't played Kind Words in a while, but now I feel like I should maybe head back to it. I know you touched on more of the "science" behind this, but I do find it interesting that KW seems to completely subvert our usual experiences with online anonymized communication. Even when we think we are doing "good," does arguing with folk online ever really make a positive change? I know I still get sucked into it once in a while and I usually just leave disgruntled and a little nauseous, lol. If we're constantly having our other skills siphoned into capitalism, I'd rather use my remaining energy/kindness for something positive.
@ArchivistShepard
@ArchivistShepard 10 күн бұрын
Yessssssss, I live for making other people cryyyy (in a good way. I hope it was a good way. ❤). And to jump off your point, I believe Kind Words excels in that subversion by being in its own biome. Like, Ella the Mail Deer specifically tells you "This is not a place for mean jokes, bullying, or flippant responses," and it notes that, if you run into a rude egg or bad advice, you can just report them! Kind Words is absolutely a curated experience, unlike the more lawless comment sections in other social media (where, yes, you have a username tied to you, but it still feels largely 'anonymous' until some weirdo decides to dox you). In my experience, I think folks have become very flag-on-hill-happy in the last decade or so, especially with the rise in ever-polarizing American politics: people will plant their flag on whatever hill, and defend it whether someone is attacking it directly or just calling over from a different hill, whether in regards to a take on a piece of media or the dismantling of basic human rights. I've seen the former a few times around my videos, where folks will disagree with something I post, I'll engage amicably, and they'll just double-down in their defense of their perspective, and even THAT leaves me a nauseous, let alone a full-blown skirmish like it sounds you've been in. But yeah, day's end, if we have to be stuck in this hellscape, we might as well put our contractual bare minimum into our capitalist-based survival, blow off and report the haters, and just try to do good, be good, and perpetuate kindness in the meantime. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, too! 🥰

Somehow I ended up as a cleaner in a dead end job and I'm about halfway through my 20s. It'd be nice to be a super influential thinker, with a positive legacy. Maybe an artist too? What if all of this culminates in leaving behind some legacy that's there for people to learn from regardless what I do... I think I want to see what I fundamentally can't be there for. Whether I share a name with a tale of woe or a tale of triumph means basically nothing to me right now. It feels like the world will be just as better off as it was always going to be, just in a different kind of way. With that taken care of, I guess all I've got to do is just make my peace with it. People are going to learn what to do, and what not to do. Or I get forgotten and it's net neutral. Eh, whatever. I had fun.

This is great stuff, dude! I've never had the problem of not knowing what I've wanted to do with my life. What exactly that thing is has changed from time to time, but there has always been something. For the last 10+ years, it's been writing. I've definitely come to see the whole "go to school, then university, then get a job" path as more of an ideal, but it can certainly be made to feel mandatory. When I dropped out for a couple years, it really hurt to feel that I wasn't taking "the right path." But really, I feel like kids would be worse off if they didn't have some system to guide them. I do wish the system were better though, and as you point out, it's a travesty there are so many BS meaningless jobs. There's a video I recorded but haven't put out yet about retirement. Essentially, it's my view that retirement is a scam, bc it seems to imply that you'll want to stop working when you're older, but I feel that if you've actually found something you love or that is meaningful to you, wouldn't you want to keep doing it forever? Great video, man. Really enjoyed your thoughts

Sir! Glad you enjoyed it, and a pleasure as always. 💜 I know I've been open (albeit, in passing) in my videos about where my perspective has stemmed from, and this is absolutely another one of those instances. Far too many conversations with family and support networks who have put a great deal of emphasis on the financial element of existence, and that "natural" order of things I mentioned. Working with college students as long as I have, the system (generally and institutionally) isn't able to sustain them: higher education institutions are largely being run by overworked, barebones staffs that are barely keeping their heads above water. Burnout from employees and attrition from students is absolutely hamstringing the entire process where it's at, making the system ultimately fail too many trying to follow it (like you said, the system, higher ed and otherwise, would do well to be better). If I can throw my own two-cents in outside the retirement video (which I do absolutely want to see, so get to work, chop chop), I think it was created as a "well, your body's no good for the industry anymore, so go relax, boss" path, like a reward someone gets for decades of service or whatnot. Now, with more and more of those resources being divested from workers and laborers, it's become a false dream of sorts, because so few people can ever afford to stop working, lest they cut their means of survival. But in a more ideal system, I think you're absolutely right: if needs were guaranteed, one's twilight years as it pertains to work and/or retirement would look a lot different, and far more aligned with passion and meaning up until our deaths. You remain a scholar and a gentleman, Noah, and I hope you're doing well!

Yo banger vid! This was thought provoking, really just a phenomenal video. You touched on many things I've thought a lot about, though certainly not in the exact way you've discussed them here. For instance, the draft has always scared the crap out of me (and both of my Signalis videos started off as being about that), and I think it was brilliant to pull that into this. The thought of medicine as a business is a terrifying thing to me as well. Really, I don't have much to say besides good work. Seriously impressive. Hope you're doing well, man! And now that we're several years out of release, you absolutely should hunker down into Cyberpunk for a while. It was a smooth ride when I went through a couple years ago, and between slam-dunking it with Phantom Liberty AND the noticeable shifts experience between PS4 and 5 (a free upgrade), there's no better time than yesterday to get in there. I think there'd be plenty for you to consider in your own videos; very wide range of dystopic nonsense going down that I didn't even mention.

Good video. Cyberpunk, both as a genre and this particular series (2077 and its ttrpg roots), means a great deal to me - and has for years. For as grim and horrific as parts of its style and world can be, there is a multifaceted quality to the genre, a nuance beyond just the viciousness of capital and systemic decay. It is as much a reassurance to me as it is a cautionary tale. There are moments of perseverance and progress, love and community. the importance of technology and the need for personal growth. Cyberpunk shows us a world where despite it all, people continue to carry on - people keep fighting; sometimes for better ideals, arguing over what that is, and some fight to simply live in peace, and the power of this genre and the story therein is that both methods are not only okay, but are sympathetic and understandable. We are at constant war with our own contradictions and that of the larger world - the burden of when to accept the complications and when to try and change them. All we can control in the end are ourselves, against all futility and hope, and holding onto that autonomy is going to become more important than ever. Death is certain. How we live and who we choose to die as are what matters.

doesnt seem like any of cyberpunk is worse than nowadays. having johnny in V's brain is similar to multiple personality disorder. having a chip labeled safe but receiving a virus is the same as being poisoned or the panera caffeine lemonade scandal. having hacked for info or to make you unconscious is nothing more than having been drugged. forced into having implants (like the monk was) isnt worse than having your organs removed after getting kidnapped. all of these horrors are real already, been so for centuries. only difference is in cyberpunk you need a different defense. about easily being hacked... it IS true today. incapacitate: flash bang, tranquilizer, tear gas. remotely kill: snipers. stealing money and data: ID theft, hacking a pc, a network. as the implants evolve so will the defenses. but so as the everyday person isnt a target to ID theft or being poisoned, so wont be in the time of the cyberpunk.

I do remember when I first played Cyberpunk, I had this distant thought in the back of my mind that, despite all: despite my struggles, my tries, my actions, it was all for naught. Nothing specifically made sense, nor did it change it. It was somewhat of a neon nihilism, if one can call it that. Sure, each quest made the world a bit safer, the gangs stopped acting up, the psychos were tamed, even quest lines finished, with people either wait is fired or dissatisfied. Still, everyone moved on, and we were simply stuck there, being this pushing stone for everyone else, who we meet. And it was all leading us to only one moment, when we ACTUALLY managed to make something for ourselves. And even this was only when V managed to agree on something with Johnny. To go out and start hell in Arasaka. So, while things haven't moved for us, and put autonomy practically stayed at zero, out actions helped to move others. It wasn't MY progression that mattered, it was EVERYONE else's one. The autonomy of all the people we met was progressed, to create something greater and safer. And we were something much greater than ourselves - we were the catalyst. Plus, you know, hacking others on the streets so casually seems absolutely ridiculous but so was the fact that police would carry a gun about 100 years ago, as it was unspeakable to take someone's life so casually, even if it was about dire situations. Cyberpunk simply exacerbates on the already existing concepts. P.S.: love your content! As usual, had a blast watching it! Thank you!

Real talk, I love this take. I can absolutely see how V and Johnny (in my run) are absolutely in it for themselves, just trying to garner enough notoriety and/or goodwill to be able to cash their chips and Fix Their Problem, but I really appreciate the more "nothing matters" take, because, then, why keep trying to help people (whether by mercing gang members, subduing cyberpsychos, etc.) if it's all for naught? Because it matters to others, it makes a difference for others, even (or especially) in a world designed to be so insular. I also keep meaning to do a final run with Johnny and V; just the two of them, as it's felt for so long, but finally on the same page. As long as the genre giving a moment for the good with the bad, I think that will always be cyberpunk's greatest asset. 💜 Glad you enjoyed it!

Like the creator of this particular Cyberpunk universe, Mike Pondsmith, said, "Cyberpunk isn't about saving the world, it's about saving yourself." Also, I don't know where you're from, but in past America, it was considered justifiable homicide to shoot down someone for calling you a liar, so I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that life was more precious in the past. Heck, 100 years ago, it was 1924. WWI was a recent memory, and at least in America, we had the rise of gangsters during prohibition.

⚫ In the IV Circle of Greed gold pearls are better than gold coins, because unlike coins, which are made by man (Fraud), pearls are made by Nature (example the golden touch of Dionysus and the natural magic water that can turn everything into perfect gold). In Greed as monsters there are: Unicorns and Scorpions (both serpentine), Giants, Oreads (with two serpentine legs), Talos, Salamanders, Golems. Who else could be the Guardian of Greed, the Dragon Ladon (Golden Apples of the Garden of the Hesperides)? The dimension is a golden Pandemonium: boiling golden lake for the damned who push great golden stones (Avaricious and Prodigals always in boiling gold). Together with Cerberus, also Giants, Pegasi (serpentine), Satyrs, Dryads and Cyclopes guarding Gluttony. A dimension of clay sea with clay rain, with the damned just like in a clay soup. Who can be the Guardian of Lust/Pride, Python the Dragon (the Dragon as a symbol of the Vampire and therefore of Lust/Pride)? The II Circle of Lust/Pride is divided into storm of air for the Lustful and rain/sea of snow for the Prideful. In Lust/Pride as monsters there are: Serpents and Moray Eels (both with two arms), Gorgons (with a serpentine tail), Lamia (vampiric), Ophiotaurs (with two arms and a serpentine tail), Elves (vampiric), Vampires (draconid), Sirens/Mermaids (winged with a serpentine tail), Naiads, Dracaenas, Nereids and Mermen/Tritons (all four with two serpentine tails), Gorgotaurs (with two serpentine tails), Dragons (classic and serpentine), Crocodiles, Lizards, Ichthyocentaurs (with two equine legs and one/two serpentine tail/tails), Octopus (draconid), Lobsters (reptilian), Giants, Hippocampi (serpentine). Replace the Wrathful with the Envious in the Styx, and put the Wrathful within Dis with the Heretics! (Example Phlegyas, Fire of Ares, Thera's Bane, Atlas Quake, Blades of Exile) The Devils's Heresy is Wrath (example Lucifer's Heresy of Wrath which made the Devils wrathful towards the Angels, causing the War in Heaven)! The City of Dis is practically divided into three Rings: Wrathful (heretics against others), Pagans (heretics against themselves) and Heretics (heretics against God). "The City of Dis held Hell's deepest secrets and the worst violent and treacherous sinners. The fallen angels guarded it's walls and flaunted his kingdom." In Heresy as monsters there are: Giants, Griffons, Vultures, Eagles. Their ash a counterpass of the Phoenix. The Leviathan is the Prince of Envy, who destroys and devours everything. The Bog of the Forgotten from God of War 2/Ascension (along with the Barbarian Hammer, Nemesis Whip, Charon's Wrath, Scourge of Erinys) is a realm of Envy/Sloth. Now Hawks, Owls, Wyverns, Lampads, Giants, Basilisks, Crabs, Sharks, Turtles, Toads, Bats, Crows, Skeletons, Wraiths, Undead are the ones to watch over the Styx marsh. “See the souls over whom Envy has prevailed. In the warm bath of the sun they were once hateful; down here in the black sludge of the river Styx do they wish they had never been born.” “Souls indignant! How many up there now count themselves kings, that here shall lie like worms in the mire, leaving their condemnations far behind!” "The Styx, a toxic marsh. Those awash with Envy drowned again and again, choking on their own venom." It is my well-founded and proven belief that Dante by Wrath he meant Envy (with Sloth) and by Heresy he meant Wrath (with Heresy). Using Cacus as an example, shouldn't the Centaurs be placed not in the VII Circle of Violence but in the V Circle of Envy? Phlegias is the Guardian of Wrath/Heresy (VI Circle) and the Hydra (now a serpentine Poison Giantess) is the Guardian of Envy/Sloth (V Circle). Guarding the I Ring of Violence are Ravens, Minotaurs, Werewolves and Giants, in the II Ring of Violence are Harpies (Warhammer) and Hounds, in the III Ring of Violence are Colossi and Lions. Fire (storm) in the City of Heresy (Wrathful, Pagans and Heretics always in burning rock) and sand (storm) in the Desert of Blasphemy (Blasphemers, Sodomites and Usurers always in burning ash). In the I Ring (Caina) of Treachery, among the Traitors of Relatives, there are also the Traitors of Friends (because a loved friend becomes similar to a loved relative). In Fraud as monsters there are: Keres and Empusae (with reptilian arms and legs). To torment the Hypocrites, under their gold there is not lead but mercury (much more symbolic).

Look, I think they really could've hit the nail on the head if they did away with the whole generational-focus of crafting. But Awakened absolutely sealed it for me. ♥ Thanks for watching all of them, and I hope you find other videos that vibe with you on the channel!

When I first saw this, I thought it would be extremely popular. When I saw it only had less than 500 views, I was startled. I don’t usually comment on videos, but I thought I had to in this situation. This video was very interesting to me, and I can tell how much effort was put into this. This was very thought provoking and made me really think for a while about our current situation in the world. It is very much eye-opening to have to it said to you this way. Even though I was already familiar with the genre, this was the kind of deep-dive that I didn’t know I needed. Thank you so much for this and I hope your channel gets picked up by the algorithm!
