You should have done much more than 3 shots for the grouping tests. I haven't seen a Gamo Magnum group anywhere near that far in anyone else's accuracy tests.

the jewellery compound you're talking about is called _jeweller's rouge_ . It's a very fine metal polish. The version that most people might be most familiar with and might already have is Brasso, that is a little more aggressive than the stuff jewellers would use on gold or silver. I think it's called rouge because it used to be red, but it comes in all sorts now. Possibly, the colour once denoted the size of the particles in the compound much like you get with metal polishes designed for use on a wheel or mop.

It ain't nothing as good as a good quality Air Rifle or Gun to do way with the Destructive Critters, and have a little fun at the same time for the youth or adult. But accuracy is very important with open sight or a scope and some shots can only be done with a good quality scope. 👍

I could be wrong but it seems to me that storing the air rifle upside down is overkill. Just my opinion. Unless there is loose debris in the barrel, storing upside down doesn't do anything. I have 3 break barrel air rifles and they are stored on the wall horizontally. I do all my shooting in my basement and 99.9 percent of the time it's during the cold weather months of the year and which ever gun I'm shooting at the time is laying horizontally when not in use. Now I will say that if you have as many rifles as you do, horizontal storage may not be practical. With all that said, I must say that I watched your video from beginning to end and that says a lot about you. I have watched some videos that were so boring to watch and listen to that I just stopped watching it.

Great video Russ ! In your opinion which gun is the quietest ? Thank you - Johnny
@russjones649712 күн бұрын
Good question Johnny ...the exact amount of sound is generated by the amount of air that escapes behind the pellet or slug out of the barrel end. Most of these air rifles have the similar amount of air and shoot the same BB's ... or pellets and the Gamo suppressors aren't really suppressors.... in my opinion ... so the sounds can be very similar. Consider a tube of carpet or some exterior sound moderator if you are serious about getting these guns more silent. Dr. Russ

Was watching an air rifle video before this one and the guy said wind does not bother him, he uses a special tool to level and sight in his scoped rifle. SKOA was his name or something like that, anyway his special tool was a credit card with a small bubble level glued to the center with a piece of string dangling underneath it attached at each end, card was flat. Not V-Shaped like it should have been, so to make it easier for him to center the bubble on the barrel. The purpose was to level the barrel horizontal., Weber makes a tool similar but with adjustable nuts on one end and V shaped. Anyway he got the gun level, than used the flashlight light trick to set the Vertical crosshair to the plumbob.. Any way, long story short, wind does effect your shooting that is why them little notches, dots, marks, are running up and down the vertical line. He says wind does not affect his shooting because of his special tool and can shoot out to 200 hundred yards with no adjustment on the scope … Myself have been shooting off and on for 60+ years. I do know wind will affect your POI. He did have video of splitting a card in half and shooting the rifle upside down. A great video you put out Dr. Russ 👍, lots of cold hard facts and wisdom. Much Respect.
@russjones649717 күн бұрын
Wadenixon ... I am unfamiliar with the gentleman or any credit card with a small bubble level glued to it. My experiences are that wind can have an impact on where the pellet or slug goes... and it has different effects on distance as well as the weight of the projectile. Wind gusts can be volatile and they are seldom left to right ... but at an angle to your shot line. It is also difficult to determine the exact wind speed ... and that determination can make a serious error in trying to judge it ... particularly at long distances. One trick of mine is to use a suppressor and watch where the projectile hits ... hoping to not stir up the game too much ... and then making the second shot more accurately adjusted to the wind. This is why most snipers have an assistant with a spotting scope... Dr. Russ

"and it can kill people". That's the type of talk that'll get them regulated.
@russjones6497Ай бұрын
Joe ... air guns have great difficulty killing people. Even powder guns have trouble killing wild game. Air guns can provide great pain in a defensive situation .... and that is a great help. Air gun manufacturers are communicating to all 50 states, trying to convince them of their air guns killing capability as those states make their hunting laws inclusive of air guns. Not all have. Fortunately, we have very few people going into schools, post offices, shopping areas with an air gun to kill.... but if we did ... there would be a whole lot more survivors. While I have a 72 caliber air gun ... it does a great job of knocking game down within 40 yards ... but not beyond that. Dr. Russ

Thanks again, The problem I'm having its a chinese rifle with a 12.7mm rail and all the dovetail to picatinny adapters in the market are for 11mm. So when mounted it's not perfectly aligned, it goes to one side.
@russjones6497Ай бұрын
Surrender Park ... sorry to hear that. Its possible that the Chinese rail is mounted incorrectly. Try to remount your picatinny adapters but be sure to continually switch from one screw to another a single turn so that the adapter is being put on correctly. Also try from one end of the Chinese rail to the other to see if there is a difference. Secondly, go ahead and mount it unaligned ... but put some postage stamp size pieces of a plastic big gulp (or whatever) onto one side of the circular scope mounts so that the rear part of the scope is pushed to one side and another on the front mount pushing the front of the scope to the other side. Hopefully, these two shims will align the scope better than it was ... and then align the cross hairs correctly. Dr. Russ
