Also, to generally clarify: - I try to educate over hate. I wouldn’t attack someone for having different beliefs than i do and I aim to have respectful debates rather than get aggressive. - I wouldnt refuse to do things like assigned group tasks with someone because of different political beliefs. - I dont support violent protesting. - Etc I’m just saying I wouldn’t let a right-leaning person be a close friend due to my personal ethical beliefs, and past experiences.

For people born and raised with the privelege of their identity and existence not being used as a political talking point, politics is very superficial. They think it doesn't matter because it doesn't really affect them either way. For people whose identities are irrevocably tied into politics (queer people, people of color, etc.) politics is important because our existence has become "political". It's why talking about politics with my white friends is kind of exhausting sometimes because it's never going to affect them in the ways it affects me.

Idk it’s always been a respect thing, you don’t know how others identify. Once you know someone and respect then you get to address them correctly. If someone doesn’t respect that then not your friend. But like pushing it is strange to me. Bit of a Pandora’s box type of deal going on already though. I’m close to non binary, trans people makes sense. But it seems too far for me to identify as an animal or fantasy creature. It feels like it makes it all seem more absurd to a layman. I do respect it though, and everyone has the right to identify as they wish. People who care how others identify or love are the problem.
