For people born and raised with the privelege of their identity and existence not being used as a political talking point, politics is very superficial. They think it doesn't matter because it doesn't really affect them either way. For people whose identities are irrevocably tied into politics (queer people, people of color, etc.) politics is important because our existence has become "political". It's why talking about politics with my white friends is kind of exhausting sometimes because it's never going to affect them in the ways it affects me.

Facts. I fucking hate politics. Drives me insane. But I have to listen to it all as a trans person because I need to know which of my rights are getting revoked this time. It's mentally exhausting for my happiness to be a playing card in the ultimate fucked up game of poker.

Also, to generally clarify: - I try to educate over hate. I wouldn’t attack someone for having different beliefs than i do and I aim to have respectful debates rather than get aggressive. - I wouldnt refuse to do things like assigned group tasks with someone because of different political beliefs. - I dont support violent protesting. - Etc I’m just saying I wouldn’t let a right-leaning person be a close friend due to my personal ethical beliefs, and past experiences.
