Playtest Yes!!!

A bit tardy to the party, but have they considered using the fan compiled rulebook available on BGG I find it very well organized and am planning on printing a few softcover copies to bring with me when I run it.

Hello Jack, love your vids I had a question about the game - can a player rent out the ornitopther from another player if they have an agreement (.ie player A in carthag receives 2 spices for instance, and player B can move three spaces) ? The 'Bribe' section of the rules has let some of my player imagine that they can (I really don't). Keep up the good work Cheers Tim

If I use the voice then decide to play the atreides nexus card, can I change my command with the voice.

Any particular reason you didn't include Judge in top 10? I feel like solo win is extremely easy to achieve with fiat "The loser gains a colony in the winner's system."

A simple rewording of the rules would make the point about drawing cards so much clearer. I know the rules say that for offence it is the start of their turn, but it should say before their first encounter instead. A lot of people view a second encounter as a second turn so would presume they can draw cards at the beginning of their second encounter if they run out after a successful first encounter.

Strongest alien in the game, in my opinion!

3D printed some containers that organise all the base game pieces + expansion pieces into one box. Absolutley love 3D printing, especially when it comes to this game!

Ecaz appears to be very similar to moritani but lacking a lot of the threat and intimidation of moritani. What makes ecaz comparably powerful to moritani? Considering the ambassador tokens tend to be weaker than terror tokens and cost spice to place?

My luck with the Facedancer is often´s to stop a winner ... but i get only 1 unit 😅 from this. But still i love the Tleilaxu how they are in this game. Often close to the victory but rarely reached. Maybe to push a bit the Facedancer, draw 4 for the start and keep 3.

The last game I played, I won as the Tleilaxu, with the home worlds variant in play. I occupied the Spacer's world, gaining me half of all shipping payments. I was allied with the empire, who held 2 strongholds, and on the last 2 battles, I reveled my face dancers took 2 other strongholds. The odds of that happening are insane. It was an amazing win. I get hyped just thinking about it.

Can confirm the proposed 2nd edition change works wonderfully! I've been running it for a while in my games online and it has quelled most of (if not all) the concerns for the face dancers mechanic.

Are BT such a strong faction that they need a nerf for 1/1000 situation?

100 years from now, when Dune is still being played, the Tleilaxu will still be used very much like you've designed them. Bravo.

The balance with the Tleilaxu is that ALL of your leaders are safe against them in combat, they have 0 traitors. Just be careful when doom stacking.

I played in a community that had grown comfortable with a meta of selling “safe” traitor information from the unused traitor cards. When you have Tleilaxu in the game there’s no safe traitors, since they couldn’t sell that information the community at the time came to the consensus Tleilaxu were bad or broken.

Interesting to hear some of hte debates. It never occured to our group that the Truthsayer card would be anything other than a verifiable yes/no question, and therefore couldn't possible be about future intentions....

Glad to see this video because there's been a long history of debate in my cosmic circles whether this alien got the bonus for each individual colony or each planet with a colony. Technically the description wording is precise but it still always leads to confusion (mostly because it makes a huge difference in Xenophile's strength)

I saw the Lynch Dune in the theater in 84. I hadn't read the book before that, so everything was new to me. I remember reading the handout they gave you that listed the terminology before the movie started. I loved the movie as a 14 year old. After, i attempted to read the book. I had to flip to the back so often that i gave up. It wasnt until my late 20s that i was able to get through the novel. Then i read the rest of them. Children of Dune and God Emperor of Dune were my favorites. Jack, i agree with just about all of your comments. After seeing DVs Dune I would love to have someone do a "who did it best?" comparing every aspect of the Lynch film, tv mini series, and DVs films to the book. Of course, i know that it would be quite objective since everyone has their own likes and dislikes. For example: I'm not a fan of Jason Mamoa or Zendaya, so, to me. I really dislike those casting decisions. And, i realize that Kyle M was too old at the beginning parts, i really like his portrayal of Paul. Before DVs Dune i had always thought how it would have been great if someone could take the best aspects of the Lynch film best aspects of the tv mini series to make a definitive version. However, i must say that the final Spicediver edit is still my preferred version.

Hey, Jack. I was wondering if you'd ever do a video covering Rex: FInal Days of an Empire, the 2012 FFG reskin of the Avalon Hill Dune, where all the factions and lore is replaced with Twilight Imperium stuff?

I wonder if the face dancer is actually female, or if the form we see it in most the show is just like its current “default” form

Sometimes my friends and I just choose new aliens we haven't played instead of randomly picking one, if there was one aliens from the expansions (I'm only missing cosmic storm and eons) what's a must try aliens that I should at least play once

Tupile is NOT the home world of CHOAM .... What kind of fake Dune rubbish is this.

Visually it was very unique maybe even better than Villeneuve's version (even with all those great CGI). It just had those amazing practical effects, which I miss in modern movies. It had great casting as well. However it was terrible to watch overall as a movie. I was cringing all the time. Dunno what it was, probably screenplay, dialogues, editing and direction. And I love Lynch, but even the "Director's Cut" (or whatever it was called) did not save this one. I have this one at 5/10, and the new one at 7/10.

This movie is a guilty pleasure. I have it on Bluray, VHS and DVD and also the TV/Alan Smithee version, and a ”making of” book. Stanis’ widow (played by Molly Wryn) features in that book, but all her scenes were cut. She can be seen in the background in some scenes. Sometimes I dream of David Lynch taking all the footage and making a three hour movie without the many cuts in the later half. Or that they had made sequels while Richard Jordan was still alive. Soundtrack, easily top 5 soundtracks and I love soundtracks. I even think the Worm riding theme works, but desert theme, first attack, prophecy theme, love theme/Chani and Hold my hand (the end theme) are all great. Awesome casting. And yes, the quotes. -Theres not one drop of rain on Arrakis. -Long live the fighters! -Send them back! -Scream at it!….Break! -Everything is shielded! -You think you have defeated me? (For when you kingmake revenge strike the leader in a game). -It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

The lynch film was chock full of really cool quotable lines. Thats something I miss in the DV version. Even the miniseries had its fair share of good lines. It is the legend!

I agree with you about the rain scene - seemed to me to be the most ridiculous ending, but has many memorable moments - and especially plenty of great quotes!

I also like much of the David Lynch film. My favourite scene is Baron Harkonnen's rant... 'The Duke will die before these eyes and he'll know... he'll know, that it is I, Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, who encompasses his doom!'

i actually really liked that they did have the radiation suits with the atomics. I think it heightens the danger of atomics; while the DV version it almost seems like just a regular large fireball...

i always liked that movie and with release of recent dune movies it went up in it's overall legacy, artistic style of lynch's dune elevates it - all those art deco interiors mixed with military uniforms, all other costumes, casting, bene gesserit shown better in old movie i like brutalist take in villeneuve universe, plus it's very recent take on design, and good budget which helps a lot, but he doesn't infuse that luscious imperial feel into his scenes, it all looks too real and drab - nolan's batman kind of art style, he had same problem with new blade runner - it's just looked poor and grey i think, someone like tarsem singh (cell, the fall) as a director could do very interesting dune movie, but the guy is busy with something else

If you have two terror tokens on a stronghold and another faction moves in. Can you activate both terror tokens for this single incursion?

Let's say the Guild win on turn 10, but through the normal victory condition of hold 3 strongholds, can the Bene Gesserit predict that or nah?

Happy to hear you like the book! I think it's a great starting point for inspiration, I love looking at the factions and thinking of different crazy ways they could be introduced.

So I just got the Ecaz expansion and its a lot of fun, but a question came up almost immediately: when exactly do the Ecaz get to draw new ambassadors? Is it immediately after they play their last ambassador? Is it after all five random ambassadors have been TRIGGERED? Is it after all five random ambassadors and the Ecaz ambassador have been placed or triggered? Please clarify.

Question. This came up today: do the Fremen’s free 3 revival for their ally add on to the ally’s normal revival? Can the ally still buy extra revivals for a possible total of six (three from the Fremen and three from the ally) or does the Fremen’s three override the normal revival

Is this (and the special systems) available on tabletop simulator or somewhere else where I could print them from?

Question: how does Tleilaxu revival of their own leaders work? Can they do it for free, like with other factions? What about Zoal?

Great video! Storm order is one of the most unique and interesting methods of turn order I've seen in a game. It's also a ton of fun seeing players struggle to win a fight in the desert only to have Arrakis' storms sweep them away too!

I'm curious, Who won? Was it solo or Ally victory?

I thought it was pretty good. I hope they have ALL of the seasons planned out rather than writing from cliffhanger to cliffhanger.
