Yippee! Love this series, interesting to see an alliance that doesn't rly do much for each other

Hey Jack, this might be a silly question, but when the Harkonnen kills a leader with leader capture and puts them face down in the tanks, is the knowledge of which leader it was secret or is it being face down purely for revival purposes?

I just can't get over how cool this game is. So excited for January.

I really like the cartoonish version (and the colours are very nice). I would prefer a not-so realistic style for the art in the Kwisatz Haderach edition, but I think it will be very hard to please everyone. Maybe the components in KH should have a more minimalist style so that it would fit better with whatever style of tokens the player chooses to go with. I don’t know. But still, it shouldn’t feel cheap. What do you think about the estetical choices that were made in the recent movies about the Harkonnen? Shouldn’t they have kept them red haired!

The art reminds me heavily of the 2003 Star Wars the Clone Wars cartoon, I really like it as an alternative art similar to what you said of having multiple sets. That said, I feel as though it drifts away from the art style of the existing Dune cards etc. If all the art was drawn in line with this I would be more than happy with it but do feel there is something potentially better out there, not that I know what that is or can draw it myself, rather just a hunch of more evoking design as all I see is the aforementioned Clone Wars style rather than a Dune style.

If you use a karama card to cancel Choam’s CHOAM CHARITY advantage after they have played the inflation token does Choam get 0 spice? Or is that just not possible? Thanks!

Not a fan of cartoony design, but this one is good overall if you like the style. They main thing I hope all redesigns do forward is to differentiate faces and costumes so that you can tell from a glance what character is used even without the number.

another question, if I want to use these same pictures to create my own deck, where can I find these cards? in tabletop simulator is it possible? how can I find this patch? Can you provide a link to it please?))

One delightful thematic feeling is when you go into combat and can see the future paths (the possible outcomes). Its easier to happen if you play Atreides, but can happen with any faction. You might know your enemy has a single weapon (from previous combats) or you know he has only one playable leader left with three in the tanks and one who is your traitor. And thus the paths converge to a few possible outcomes. If you know you wont win, you can sell yourself dearly, or you might know you will win by cranking up your troop expenditure. Going into combat knowing you will win is sweet, knowing you will barely win is sweeter and sweetest is of course if you (barely) win when not sure. But that whole gathering of information and piecing together your battle plan and the tension, sweet and thematic.

Storage solution sounds great. 🙂I think this would be an overall decent final expansion. I just wrote a letter to Cosmic Encounter. ^^

Xenomorph’s a neat idea for a green alert alien. You probably wouldn’t be aloud to use the name cause of copyright with the alien films. Maybe Copycat would be a good name for it? In it’s art it could be a more cat-looking version of Loser. Kind of like how mimic references Loser.

As always, thank you for continuing to make cosmic encounter the best game ever made. When you talk about new aliens, I always wish you had also shown their wilds and supers. I would be especially interested to know what the super (and wild) of an alien like Energy is.

Do the ecaz ambassador's trigger when the BG flips from advisor to fighter in a stronghold with an ambassador?

My group finally played our first Cosmic Encounter game today. Man, what a blast. I was excited about CE before I played it, but now that I have gotten a taste of it...oh boy! I totally get your decades-long obsession over it, I am turning 30 soon, but I can see myself being obsessed with this for the rest of my life. I simply don't see myself getting tired of it. I got to play Fodder (lost), Grudge (won), Fido (won), Barbarian (won), Cudgel (lost twice), Mind (won). Which brings me to why I am posting this here: Mind is awesome, I totally get why you gave Brute an Alt Timeline when Mind's power is that strong by itself. I still think Merchant is stronger, but just wanted to give a shoutout to Mind, such a potent power.

Can the BG tell you to not use a weapon with the voice? Or do they have to specify poison weapon / projectile weapon?

Hey Jack, I was wondering what you thought about Pacifist vs Parasite. I agree with you about Particle, but I noticed you mentioned thinking that Pacifist might be the best P before you settled on Particle. I was thinking Parasite sounded better than Pacifist. I can definitely see the strength of Pacifist, but Parasite's ability to always be an [offensive] ally (unless you are a Main Player) makes me think they would be higher on the list than Pacifist. Seems like they could win on Round 1 pretty easily, barring Artifacts and whatnot.

How do to manage Discovery token with double Spice?

My favorite Michael Crichton book is Eaters of the Dead. Did you know that the Library of Congress actually cataloged it as nonfiction initially?! The 13th Warrior is a great movie based on the book. Wonderful version on the Beowulf story!

Hey Jack, I was wondering what you thought of Machine. I haven't played CE yet, but I have been pleasure reading the Alien Powers. Machine seems like one I would like a lot, my favorite power (theoretically) so far. Does Machine get ganged up on too much, which could just shut down its Power? Also, I clearly see that Merchant is better than Machine. Merchant is amazing.

Kinda off topic but, I played Dune last night and the Nexus card for the bene Gesserit is either very over powered or is worded incorrectly. It says something along the lines of "During the battle, use the voice to prevent your opponent from using a treachery card." If that's the case, after the battle plan has been shown, the faction with the bene Gesserit Nexus card, can say "Don't play that card in your battle plan.". So the opponent, took the card back into his hand and lost the battle. The wording on the Nexus card very strongly suggests that the example above is ok. But the bene Gesserit faction can't even do that. It has to be done before the battle. Can I get some clarification please Jack?

Do you mean all spice cards should be double Spice Blow or just few of tham.

Do you find that there is a saminess feel to the spice blows from game to game? Two cards give more variety to the spice blows and make each game more dynamic in how they can develop.

Would there be a spice card for every possible combination of spice blows? How thin is the deck? Decks that are too thin are hard to shuffle.

What about to create new Ezac token of none existing Housein Game: e.x. Landsraad: Take any leader among not used faction of strength up to 3. You can use it once in any upcoming BATTLE(once or maybe for rest of game). Smuggler: Take 1 random Discovery token on any ROCK territory and get 2 spice. Iduali: Take 1 random Hiereg and place them on any sand terroritz and take 2 spice. GINAZ. Or even Minor Houses that are not in plan to be present in future(Halleck, Fenring, Nebiro, ...). 2nd Landsraad = draw Nexus card even in Alliance or if you already have one.

Just like everything in this game, an excellent feature.

My ranking is nearly the same, but I’d argue that the Atreides are often a better ally than the BG. The voice gives you a massive advantage but only affects battles, prescience grants unparalleled information, which affects/improves all parts of your gameplan. I guess strictly ranking the abilities present on the faction sheets, the voice is undeniably the best. But in practice the Atreides give much more

I like the idea of grading aliens and I think his criteria are solid. It will always come down to some subjectivity. I've personally cut out about 1/4 of the FFG aliens because I don't find them as fun as others.

What do you think of adding a lasgun as a potential smuggler token?
