Is this the comprehensive exam at end of the course?
@orion19542 жыл бұрын
I literally spent hours trying to figure out why the program wouldn't register "fe80::1" as the default IPv6 gateway for all the end devices and why it wouldn't mark the configurations for the local link address for interfaces G0/0 and G0/1 (should've been fe80::1 as well) correct despite the fact I followed everything in the video my instructor sent as well as digging for this one. In the end, I guess I'm settling for an 81%.

How did you figure out the default gateway for everything? It's blank on the activity.

Usually Cisco uses the first available IP address as default gateway.

Wow! Thanks so much on these.. i just want to clarify some things though...i dont know if i've heard/read the lessons right or wasn't able to absorb it properly..why did you use "fe80::1" as the link local? why is it the same link local on g0/1 and g0/0? and what would happen if its different?
@andresilva2524 жыл бұрын
Hi, Well, the ipv6 link-local works just "locally", which means, in the same link (same subnet). So, if you have a router with 4 active interfaces, you can use the same link-local address on all 4 interfaces. Or, you can use different link-local addresses, like fe80::1, fe80::2, fe80::3, fe80::4. However, I prefer to use "always" the fe80::1, so I never mistaken the ipv6 default gateway on the host, which should be the link-local address of the router, which I "always" configure as fe80::1. The link-local address range is fe80::/10. All IPv6 enabled interfaces need an IPv6 link-local address.

cost = Reference Bw / int Bw, So for a gig int, looks 1000/1000 =1, but the requirement is to have a cost of 10 ??? what you say?
@andresilva2524 жыл бұрын
Hi, Good point. I made a mistake. If we want the gigabit interfaces to be 10 and the fast to be 100, and the formula is as you say: cost = Reference Bw / int Bw we have to change the reference from 100mbps (default) to 10000mbps You can confirme the cost of the links with the command: P2P-2(config-router)#do show ip ospf int gi0/0/0 GigabitEthernet0/0/0 is up, line protocol is up Internet address is 192.168.1.1/24, Area 0 Process ID 10, Router ID 192.168.2.1, Network Type BROADCAST, Cost: 10 (...) thanks for the input! PS:"So for a gig int, looks 1000/1000 =1", that's wrong, its 100/1000 and the result (0.1) is converted to 1. So if you don't change the reference value, a fast and a gig interface will have the same cost (1).
