You are my miracle sir! I'm working on THIS Packet Tracer right now, and you go into the nitty gritty of how to get this picky computer program to give you the points. I have another seed though. I'll keep trying.

Thank you so much Sir. The presentation concise and to the point. Knowledgeable definitely you are.

In the end, I settled for a 95%. I had to change my VLAN1 on ASw-2 to 172.14.10.**35** ! I'm missing the points for the IPV6 addresses on G0/0 and G0/1, and I am NOT spending 2 more hours iterating through IPV6 addresses until Packet Tracer likes my answers. Being a perfectionist in school is not worth it!
@andresilva2524 жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes, it does not worth the time. I spent some time trying the IPs until I get 100%. Cisco should have programed the Packet Tracer in a different way. However, since all your pings and connections are ok, your configuration should be ok!

@@andresilva252 well, I can always talk to the instructor. Sometimes they're able to bypass automatic grades and correct the flawed computer program.

Dude, I spent hours on this trying to figure this out. Thanks so much. Also how does IPv6 address work with hosts? can you put 2001:db8:b:: then any number for your hosts?
@andresilva2524 жыл бұрын
Hi, IPv6 is note qual to the IPv4. It’s 128bit address. 64bits as prefix + 64bits as interface ID. In the 64bit of the prefix, you have 48bits of the global routing prefix, and the the last 16bit are used for subnets, so you don’t have the to do the subnetting like IPv4. (48|16|64) =(Global Routing Prefix|Subnet ID|Interface ID ) Yes, you can put any number, but I recommend you to not use the all zeros(0) bit. “The all-1s address can be used because broadcast addresses are not used within IPv6. The all-0s address can also be used, but is reserved as a Subnet-Router anycast address, and should be assigned only to routers.” From cisco.

Thanks so much for the video!! Can you please explain what is the purpose of "link local" command? Or can you refer to the chapter in Netacad were its explained?

I literally spent hours trying to figure out why the program wouldn't register "fe80::1" as the default IPv6 gateway for all the end devices and why it wouldn't mark the configurations for the local link address for interfaces G0/0 and G0/1 (should've been fe80::1 as well) correct despite the fact I followed everything in the video my instructor sent as well as digging for this one. In the end, I guess I'm settling for an 81%.

Wow! Thanks so much on these.. i just want to clarify some things though...i dont know if i've heard/read the lessons right or wasn't able to absorb it properly..why did you use "fe80::1" as the link local? why is it the same link local on g0/1 and g0/0? and what would happen if its different?
@andresilva2524 жыл бұрын
Hi, Well, the ipv6 link-local works just "locally", which means, in the same link (same subnet). So, if you have a router with 4 active interfaces, you can use the same link-local address on all 4 interfaces. Or, you can use different link-local addresses, like fe80::1, fe80::2, fe80::3, fe80::4. However, I prefer to use "always" the fe80::1, so I never mistaken the ipv6 default gateway on the host, which should be the link-local address of the router, which I "always" configure as fe80::1. The link-local address range is fe80::/10. All IPv6 enabled interfaces need an IPv6 link-local address.
@StarcadianX3 жыл бұрын
How did you figure out the default gateway for everything? It's blank on the activity.
@andresilva2523 жыл бұрын
Usually Cisco uses the first available IP address as default gateway.

in 10:54 do you know why cisco only gives you the points for that specific address?
@andresilva2524 жыл бұрын
Hi, Basically they should give you points since you configure IP addresses with the right range, but they don't. So you can configure the PT correctly but you don't receive all points.

How did you complete the table. Did you just make up your own address and subnet masks?
@andresilva2524 жыл бұрын
Hi, with the given networks I made the addressing table. First IPv4 for gateway, second for vlan and last for hosts, that is what we usually should do and that's what Cisco usually does. IPv6 - Global IPv6 address, first for routers second for hosts.
@NicholasWalditama4 жыл бұрын
So, the IP address must be really similar? If only one number is considered wrong ?? I'm stuck at 92%, then I'm followed the IP address in user4, then I got 100%
@andresilva2524 жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes, this packet tracker have that problem. The PT should accept all the ip address in the network ou subnetwork range, but sometimes cisco PT want a specific IP address. So you have to try which is correct to get 100%, even if your configuration is correct or pinging. This PTs of the new CCNAv7 have some problems/mistakes since this is the first release. Maybe in the next update cisco will correct this.
