Not sure if you read your comments or Questions. here goes. Does it make sense using an access panel instead of closing up all of the hole? We replaced the shower mixer. The cut out is 40" X 20"

SURE WONT HELP IN RESELL THOUGH
@doridasman9 күн бұрын
Legit! So I realize this wouldnt be a reasonable approach for you and your time demands, but would you ever recommend adding backer board above the seams to keep them from popping (along with the fiber tape on bottom?) Reason I ask is I am in my attic a lot and repeatedly traversing the trusses has created these cracks.
@drywallrepairman9 күн бұрын
Yes stubborn cracks bad crack only I will cut out small area to get 1x2 in there between cracks sure ha d video on my playlist showing this, I do it on really bad cracks or recracks only not every crack need this
@jakeoneill76239 күн бұрын
Nice! Okay so it sounds like the fibertape should be enough,? Iwas actually considering screwing 6" wide strips of 3/16" plywood in from the attic then pulling it down with screws on each side of the seams below. Probably overkill? I would just hate to have to redo the repair later if I keep walking in the attic.

If ur worried about coating over rusted nails paint them over with kilz before missing but mud should stick regardless if ruster or not and muds can be skimmed over painted areas no problem just takes little longer set up on gloss paints

Small mixer paddle (think like the one you’d use in a kitchen handheld mixer) for your drill. Little cheap bucket from HD. Mix that stuff and margin trowel it out straight to a hawk. So fast in comparison. I used to do what you do and man that shit was a pain in the ass. Between the hand mixing and mud stuck in the corner of the pan, I’d sooner quit before going back to that. Good luck my brooda
