Thank you for this video, I hope more people watch it and learn your tips. I have resorted to using other image generating programs that allow me to select Checkpoints and LoRAs, which I've learned through trial and error, seem to have been trained with images of darker skinned people. Even then I'll have to try very creative wordings for the prompt. Then I'll use an image editing program to learn the color values of pixels that are in the range of skin color I'm looking for. Various websites will convert the pixel data to a name for that color such as Deep Oak (#44220E), Bistre (#39281D), Saddle (#493122), Roman Coffee (#796253), or Zeus (#1D1815), to name a very few, for various shades of brown. So, then I might use a prompt like "very dark pigmented skin African woman, Deep Oak skin color #44220E C:47%, M:74%, Y:84%, K:67%" or "black girl with very dark skin complexion, Creole skin color #070301 C:72%, M:67%, Y:67%, K:87%" Even then it is hit or miss, and you'll always be at the mercy of the Checkpoint training data. If those skin colors are not in there, it won't spontaneously generate them. Honestly I think the text part of generating images is a very small fraction of how images are created, and we are putting too much emphasis on the wrong kind of input. Just adding a picture, as an image prompt, of what you are aiming for to the main prompt will influence it more I think. Oh BTW I usually throw in Nigerian or Ghanaian if I want dark skin color plus some culture thrown in on the side. Thanks again!

In order to capture the essence of life-like and realistic subjects in our generated images, it is important to broaden our perspective beyond mere decoration. Real-world examples of diverse individuals from various cultural backgrounds and ethnicities in needed. National boundaries, which are arbitrary and less indicative of the physical characteristics we envision as artists, might limit our exploration of art. However building upon your excellent example, we can enhance our creative process by considering a list of diverse ethnicities found across Africa. While some of these names may be familiar, it is crucial for us as artists to conduct extensive research and delve further into the vast range of beauty that exists throughout the continent of Africa. By doing so, we can better achieve our goal of generating AI artwork that truly captures the desired essence we seek. I further suggest using these terms in the image prompts: Afar, Akan, Amhara, Bakongo, Balanta, Bambara, Berber, Chaga, Chewa, Chichewa, Dinka, Fula/Fulani, Ga, Ganda, Gikuyu, Hausa, Igbo, Ijaw, Kamba, Kanuri, Kikuyu, Luba, Lunda, Mande, Mandinka, Mossi, Ndebele, Nuer, Oromo, Ovambo, Rundi, San Bushmen, Shona, Shubi, Somali, Songhai, Sotho, Sukuma, Swahili, Swazi, Tigray, Tonga, Tswana, Tuareg, Wolof, Xhosa, Yoruba, Zaghawa, Zarma, Zulu

Is there a way to have prompts describing different color tones of black women? From Alicia Keys to Viola Davis? If I use words like Light or dark I either get brown or pale woman.

I always like to give my people the benefit of the doubt and go to them for technical knowledge. I am glad I did. Many of my brothers and sisters have good pace when describing what they need people to do. That is a major plus. Keep up the good work.

I’m so frustrated. I cannot get black or African characters. No matter what I type, or whether I’m using Midjourney or the app, Wonder. I do not want girls with “mixed” features. I do not want light-skinned characters. I want a BLACK woman with African features IN Korea (shopping, walking, in a cafe, on dates) resembling me and my time in the country. But all I get is cruddy results…no Black women. Or Asian men. If I try to add more than one character into a prompt-e.g. black woman, Asian man-I will literally ALWAYS get a thin East Asian woman with a dark skin Black man. The total opposite of what I typed. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong to always get these results, so, here I am.

This is really helpful. Do you have other videos showing how to create 3 similar characters in different colors? Each character's feature, look and feel has to be slightly different. Just like generating the children's book Three little pig characters. Thanks much.
