Got a similar one from Temu, and it's fine for $11 U.S. The threaded piece that passes through the bearing to affix the chuck below is much larger than yours in order to snugly fit in the bearing and widens at the top to not let it slide through / out once the chuck is threaded on. So none of the wiggling you experienced is happening here. Others may be correct in that you should have assembled the chuck with the bearing sandwiched in between which is how mine went together. I did have to clear out one of the holes for the aluminum rod to pass fully through the top piece but was easy enough with my battery Dremel. Being largely plastic like a cheap tool, it will take some careful guiding two handed to not get it to flex as I think too much angular force would crack the top and release the bearing if not some other bit of the plastic giving way, but I think I can get some decent holes after adding a bit of petroleum jelly to the aluminum shafts for it to slide a bit smoother and by carefully guiding it down with two hands and making sure there's no twisting or angular force being applied, just straight downward. I would never pay the crazy woodpecker prices. There's a Milescraft on Amazon for $33 U.S. that looks all metal, but I will probably use this thing 5 times if at all and am confident I can get it to do the job.

The brush in stuff is crap. 3 in 1 sharp and builders sand mixed the best we often brush a dry sand and cement mix in first leaving it low and water that in as a good settler under any gaps in the base let that go off then point with the 3 in 1 mix using a trowel and pointing tool when dryish a sweep with a soft brush then mist with a garden hand held bottle sprayer run pointing tool again if needed then job done leave untill really set often overnight! A big problem with the sweeping compound in tubs is that its porous and if patio is say built on a solid base then water will lay under the slab and blow in the water! Sand and cement mix everytime and you know what once you get going it doesnt take much longer that the brush in stuff! Just saying!

Surely the £19.99 price tag was a good enough indicator to avoid this product?
@brianmi402 ай бұрын
I've never found price to be the reason to avoid anything as I can judge the quality and fitness for purpose. He clearly assembled it wrong, not putting the chuck on with the bearing sandwiched in between which then yields no play for the chuck to move around. I got one for $11 U.S. from Temu and it went together fine. This is not a contractor / heavy regular use tool, but for a home user / weekend warrior, it's fine if you can think it through and not stress it by applying a little petroleum jelly to the shafts for smoother sliding and also using two hands to get a smooth downward motion and not trying to do it with one hand which would risk angular force that would crack it. Woodpecker tools are crazy overpriced. To me they're the equivalent of the $1,000 NASA hammer just soaking the rich for no reason. There's plenty of all metal versions of this for heavier or more regular use such as a Milescraft on Amazon for $33, but again, those of us that understand the physics involved can compensate for plastic and make it work. For the 2-5 times I'll use it, I'm happy with the $11 cost.

@MATTDOESSTUFF20204 ай бұрын
I probably would have made the mix a bit firmer to help with the setup time. And probably fixed the beading with render. And if I was better I guess I could have got it smoother. Overall well pleased and no cracks 2 years on.

Unfortunately I don't have a cutting list for them. I knocked them up in google sketch up and wrote my cut list on a bit of paper so it doesn't exist electronically.

if you were doing this as a regular fence would you just attach to fence posts where you attach to the wall?
@MATTDOESSTUFF20206 ай бұрын
Yes I would just attach horizontal battens to fence posts. The only this tou would need to consider is the lining would be visible on the other side if no wall

the reason why the drill chuck falls of is because its suposed to be locked in place from the top with a different bolt than the one you have, bought mine from temu and it works fine although its not the best drill stand out there.

Phew, just about bought the same one haha. Good real review! Just some constructive criticism, would be nice for the audio to be uniform in your videos. Goes from soft voiceovers to loud front of camera audio. Nasty when wearing earphones and it would be a simple fix in post-production. Just a small thing to up the quality and viewing experience! Nonetheless, very informative!

Great way to do this without over complicating things. What length screws are you using to fix the 2x2 together? I was thinking 4" ones, but that may be a bit over the top. Do you use decking or stainless ones for rotproofing, or just the standard zinc plated ones?
