Young is subjective. Sound is irrelevant! 🤣I have and will never like the coil, cool or not it’s like having your head or shirt stuck on something constantly. Not for me, but if you love it, coil on ✌️

Good review, I’m planning on getting a b-stock classic version on reverb cause I’m not a big fan of tuning headless guitars, only thing I would say about the review is to add more video content of you testing it out and showing some of the issues and sounds, other than that ROCK ON BROTHA🎸🤘

So I've just got this and been testing around, I've stumbled on the very same problem. The creator software prompted me to a firmware update but it's been a dic in the a. In a not fun way. I am going to test it some more with Studio 1 and Renoise, to see if I will keep it. There's good things and there's bad things about it, but mostly taking from this: you can get a better MPE device for a lot less money

I have both the M50X's and DT990's. Honestly, sound quality is more important to me than practicality. The DT990's are rolled off on the low end and peaks at the top end which is a bit annoying having been used to the more pronounced low-end curve on the M50X's. On the other hand, The DT990's have a much more open stage, so you can quickly pick apart the assortments of instruments in a track, while the M50X's kind of just mushes everything together. Don't get me wrong, the M50X's are amazing headphones, but they've passed their sell-buy date and I was forced to get a new pair, which is why I went with the 990's. I use Pedalboard software on my computer to first of all fix the EQ curve with a plugin, as well as run a crossover plugin to get the sound you'd get from listening on speakers. If it wasn't for the software, I wouldn't have gone for the DT990's, because I just love bass too much, but the software fixes that problem. I must say, with the software running, the bass response is so clean and tight, and I don't regret my choice, because now I get the best of both worlds. I just hope to God the cable lasts a couple of years. I freak out just thinking about it. Oh just FYI, the M50X's are definitely not 250 ohm, more around 38 ohms, so you'll need an amp for the DT990's or you won't hear it at it's full potential.
@iduz631
@iduz631 11 ай бұрын
What pedalboard software do you use? I’m after sound quality as well and I’ve seriously been considering the 990’s for a soundstage upgrade over my M50x’s. On top of that, what would you suggest for the crossover settings?
@paradoxic1888
@paradoxic1888 11 ай бұрын
@@iduz631 I see many well-known producers still using the M50X's. While not so much soundstage, the low-end is top-notch. Great for EDM. My DT990's got water damage, so I bought the DT900 Pro X's instead. Best value for money and has a detachable cable, but it has less low-end, so you'll need to train your ear. Similar with the DT990's. If you're going to produce with headphones, software like Goodhertz CanOpener is a must as it creates crossover to the room of your choice. Toneboosters Morphit is also good to balance out the EQ curve for your headphones model, but if you train your ear you don't need it. I've seen studios switching to crossover software so they can produce on headphones and little needs to be tweaked on monitors after the process.

Ya, some of them do need a bit of setup, mine did, but now plays incredible and tracks incredible. Not too hard to do a setup if you know how to do a regular guitar setup. You need to use their desktop app showing signal strength and adjust the height of the string above the midi pickup while using a pick (which will give the sharpest attack and signal strength). You don’t won’t the signal to max out. All tools are included. Once complete picking, finger picking, hammer ons & offs all work. Fun guitar once setup. Don’t forget to adjust the humbuckers to your liking too. I picked up a b-stock and have not regretted it. We’ll worth the b-stock price, still worth the OEM price. The way I figure it, even my Fenders in or slightly above that price require a setup and this has way more tech at that price, so I kind of get the price point; but ya a better factory setup would be nice.

In theory as a terrible keys player it was going to be a dream. Tried a few adjustments but I’m sure their desktop app has had a few iterations since I owned the guitar. Maybe I’ll try another one down the track. Glad you were able to make yours work.

I'm familiar with this device you speak of Fred. A telephone was normally mounted to the wall or had a heavy base though. I don't want to be stretching the cable while trying to play or record, it's just annoying. The coil design works in some cases but not for me in this instance. Each to their own though.

@@JoelWilliamHarrison there are two types of people, the very aware, who notice the weight and feel of the coiled cord , and how far extended the cord is. Then there are the unaware, who don’t notice the weight and appreciate the cord won’t let you yank against the plug when you extend it too far. And so there must be accommodations for everyone

Would it be a good idea to take the course if you have no experience in production? I’m just a songwriter/recording artist, but would love to learn more about songwriting (lyrics and vocals) in different genres to different kinds of beats. Would this be a helpful course for me? I am open to learning about the production aspect of it because I know it all has to work together. I dont know anything about music theory or production though. I would love to learn how to write better songs like my inspirations (the weeknd, to name one). Would this course be helpful?
@JoelWilliamHarrison
@JoelWilliamHarrison 2 жыл бұрын
I think everyone will get something out of the course - but wether that makes it worthwhile or not, is up to the specific person. I think a lot of people expected one on one time with Charlie which is just not realistic, nor is to do a course and have the same skills as Charlie at the end. It does come with a recording and music basics section but it's quite short and the rest might be a bit too in depth or different to what it sounds like you’re after. “I would love to learn how to write better songs like my inspirations (the weeknd, to name one). “ - In this case my suggestion (I’m not an expert - but you asked a question) would be to study all of the Weeknd or artists songs - they’re all out there online for free. There are also a heap of production breakdowns on KZbin. Listen to interviews with the artist and his producers etc. I’m also not sure if he writes a lot of his own stuff, checkout Wiki for co-writers/producers etc. Writing Better Lyrics by Pat Pattinson is also a great book. You’ll get better at writing songs by writing more songs. I'm trying to focus more on doing of late, as opposed to learning. Which is hard when everything is trying to sell you something these days. All the best on your journey mate.
