Coming from the future😃 We now all know where that 3D V-Cache locates

My sample XTX apparently is a really good bin, handles -75mV undervolt and a slight memory tune, far faster than a 4080 at 400W in rasterization

I picture it’s engineers as gods that are designing large scale cities on an almost atomic scale. The channels and the roadways they need to build are incredibly complicated and small. It must be daunting. It would be cool to have a virtual reality tour to see what it would be like to zoom in and out of the three dimensions of the chip. To be a couple nanometers tall and to examine the miniature city built with light.

Has its limitations: it costs more, offers limited VRAM capacity, and is primarily useful as a cache. AMD's approach with HBM as V-Cache adds potential, but interconnects and overclocking remain constrained. Additionally, if the HBM fails, the entire chip becomes unusable, and replacing the chip is not an option. You also can't upgrade VRAM with HBM. While HBM offers lower latency, it comes at the cost of reliability.

Like how tf did this happen, like how humans were actually able to develop the technology to create something like this (I know about photo-lithography), now we have more cache than what I had of RAM in the first computer on my house.

Since the 9800x3D has been launched we know that the Stacked L3 is underneath. The TSVs are probably for a future product with a 2nd cache stacked on top too. Double stacked will be for gaming enthusiasts, Stacked cache will become the mainstream, while the entry level models will have the cache disabled.

This is the best video in order to understand the chip architecture from a novice point of view. One suggestion, please compare how M4 family GPUs compare with Nvidia family. Thanks for the hard work, really appreciate it.

Great video! I have a slightly off topic question- Can you recommend a way that I could download these full images and view them? Like a source for the image(s) and software for viewing. Or maybe even a similar but less detailed 3D rendering... I'd absolutely love to take a good look myself, really zoom in and out/ pan around, to get a better understanding of the scale and layout.

I think the large number of TSV pads on the Zen 4 CCD are for the MI300A. The MI300A is essentially a custom-made product for El Capitan, and since there is no successor, it is thought that the number of TSV pads has been reduced in Zen 5.
