If you aren’t attached to the sand, remove all sand and crank up flow. If you are attached to the sand, when you siphon up the cyano, siphon up the top layer of sand and pitch it. Keep doing this until no more cyano and then add new sand back in.

@@My525XLRedSeaReefer If you don’t feel like siphoning or want to make it real easy and fast, use a net to scoop up the cyano and thin layer of sand. Takes like 5 minutes with cleanup rinse. Cyano on rock will have to be brushed/blown off and you can also try to catch the larger pieces of cyano with a net.

Having that return nozzle so deep gets me nervous, bad news if the flap fails or leak. Also, I'm curious if you've done any ICP test to know if your iron or zinc levels are high? I've been running my newer tank for a year now, going mad scientist dosing individual trace elements. Accidentally overdosed iron and zinc, and now I have cyano, although very small amount. Just wondering if there could be a correlation between cyano and one of those 2 elements 🤔

Get yourself the trident DIY refurbishment kit. If it’s never been done, the factory put the vinyl tube in through the pinch valves and they get a permanent kink that causes blockage errors/no sample. You can take it apart and cut the pinch out of the vinyl tube to get it working again but the refurbishment kit replaces the vinyl tube with silicone at the pinch Valves. You also get a new testing vile that’s nice and clean. Worth doing probably every year.
@My525XLRedSeaReefer23 күн бұрын
Hey there! I actually tore it down and cleaned out the tubes. Turns out the waste water line was blocked so all the reagents were leaking into the tray. Once I figure that out .. took a few disassembles and reassembles to find the issue, all is good now. I clean the covet regularly so I knew that wasn't the issue. Thanks for watching!

Hang in there! I'd check my RO system to make sure that's working ok. For nutrients in the seahorse tank, Stop the Bacto Balance. That should be used when the nutrients are within a certain range. They make 2 other bacto products, Plus NP for when you are low, and Elimi-NP for when your Nitrates and phosphates are high. I would suggest Brightwell's NeoPhos and NeoNitro to adjust your nutrients up (Or feed heavier) . It's super easy to control with the dosing instructions on the back of the bottle. I have to say, from an outsider not looking at the tanks every day the 525 is looking good despite the small issues! Reef on man!
