Roy Weissensteiner is one of my favourite interpreters. Its lovely to see these performers appreciate the hard work of Gaston Leroux. ^_^ Merci beaucoup Veronique!

Sorry, it’s the other way around: Henk Poort was the original Dutch Phantom, Ben Cramer was his alternate.

Julian as your wife I'll always be biased and one of your biggest fans but putting that aside and speaking on a completely professional level I have to tell you (and the world) how much I admire you and your talent , and you know me with my honest critiques! You have always been the consummate professional and always give 110% not only in all your performances but also when setting up our own gigs and being a producer and quite frankly in everything you do. You're always exhausted because you give so much more than most people! It's really astounding , if only people knew the extent of what you do!!! I'm so proud of you and all you've achieved thus far and I actually hope that you'll get some time off from your business to actually fulfill your other ambitions like the stage plays and more. Selfishly I also miss watching you on stage shining so bright. And my god your voice! I am in constant awe of it, you sing and dance with such passion, precision, clarity, soul. I have always been in love with not only you but your talent which is what made me notice you all those years ago! Please record an album at some point!!! Finally, I i don't know if you know that working with you on your production company and all the gigs that we perform in together has really constantly forced me to up my game because you set the bar so high so performing with you is both an honour and a joy but also sometimes quite intimidating, and yet awe inspiring. So proud of you and all you've achieved, including being a great dad to our daughter and my constantly loving and supportive husband. Love you always. Please keep growing into whatever your heart dreams of next and keep shining your beautiful powerful light and let's keep singing and dancing, (andlaughing!) together into our old age and forever! Your wifey x (And boss 😄) Xxx P.s. OMG where did all that come from? Sorry this all just spilled out of me. I didn't plan on writing this essay, it's just all truth, and now I'm all teary. Sorry to everyone reading this! X

I saw Mr Freeman as 'The Phantom' in London and could not have been more fortunate in seeing the perfect performance of this musical, in which Mr Freeman's operatic training was definitely evident. Many thanks, Mr Freeman; opera's loss certainly has been our gain! Perhaps Elizabeth failed to take off because it was, in some ways, a Teutonic version of Evita? May I ask, by the way, whether Mr Freeman lives in Germany, or elsewhere in Europe?
@behindthemirrorofmusic43517 ай бұрын
He lives in Germany. Elisabeth did become a success because the audience loved it, a bit like what happened to Les Miserables. It's been performed in many countries and is the most successful non English musical in history💖
@williamevans94267 ай бұрын
@@behindthemirrorofmusic4351 Thank you for your kind reply, and apologies for my ignorance re 'Elisabeth'; I've found the Empress a fascinating, if flawed, person ever since I visited Vienna some years ago, and would love to have seen the English version of the show.

Makes me wish more than ever that someone would make a movie following the actual book. Whether anyone could find an actor as much of a natural as Mr. Freeman to play the Phantom is sadly unlikely.

This was a fine reading by Ethan, it reminds me of a children's television series many years, it was called Jackanory. It was rhyming slang of some kind I think meaning story. Various performers would read an entire book over the course of a week and Ethan, with his expressive voice, would have been perfect. I wonder if he read in this engaging way for his own children. I read the novel many years ago but I don't remember it as a love story, more like a Gothic horror. Stories involving the supernatural were popular during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. I remember Erik being a threatening character really. I wonder how his behaviour would be viewed today in the light of the campaigns against the abuse of women, had it not been fot Lloyd Webber and his more sympathetic, romantic retelling of Erik's story.

Wow incredible vocals from both Mike and Corinne. 1 of my favourite Christine and Phantom's. Thank you for this lovely audio.
@EmilyGloeggler79843 жыл бұрын
I was the same. I wanted to be Christine, and still do. I was horribly bullied and I was eventually kicked out of school. The only thing I disagree with you on is being a writer (I have no interest in doing so) and Ethan Freeman as the Phantom. I personally feel Ethan did better in other roles like Luigi Lucheni in "Elisabeth", etc. Still, how blessed you are to have had such experiences to meet and talk with these kind gentlemen, who were sympathetic. Some people never are so blessed by God. To this day, at 36 and now married to a loving and faithful man, who is my own "Erik" named Frank, I still sing and try to improve and "The Phantom of the Opera" is very precious to me and it is still one of my favourite musicals and books. My dream is to eventually sing at the Palais de Garnier, if God permits, but if not, I'd be happy to visit it one day. As for learning to sing better, I'm not sure if I can help much but I'd be happy to direct you to some of my music betters whom I'm blessed to call my adopted brothers and sisters and friends. :)
