On Sondheim, Creativity and Theatre with singer, actor and author Mardie Millit

This week on Behind the Mirror of Music Dannii Cohen talks to Mardie Millit in part two of our Sondheim series.
In our interview Mardie talks about her decades long pen friendship with Sondheim that started when she was a teenager and how Sondheim's music influenced her life and career. We also discuss creativity, the importance of writing, art and much more.
Mardie Millit is a singer, actor and writer and the recipient of the 2024 MAC Award for Best Female Vocalist. She has appeared regionally, Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway in a slew of classic musical theatre roles including Maury Yeston's Phantom and My Fair Lady and in premieres of original shows by the likes of William Peter Blatty, Billy Stritch and Mark Waldrop.
Her recent theatrical endeavors have been with Vanessa Paradis’s Dream Productions, playing Joanne in Company and the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, among others.
She and her husband and creative partner, Michael Garin, have collaborated on stage in musical projects including "Sorry Grateful" a Sondheim song cycle recounting Mardie's decades long pen-friendship with Stephen Sondheim and have now started work on a musical, Mary Astor’s Purple Diary, currently in development.
