Holy-Reckoning is 'the most meta' according to 'the most paladins' -- but not necessarily the most fun. Ret-Reckoning is best for solo play if you're an engineer. I honestly prefer Ret-Prot for Repentance and Improved Hammer of Justice ... but what is "best" or "strongest" legitimately changes between the phases of Classic you're in. You can do amazingly well with every one of them, based on the phase of the game and the gear you have available. If you're in Phase 2 or 3 Gear (BWL and Below), then you will frequently have trouble with mages, shamans and warlocks solo. If you're in phase 5 gear, Paladin becomes powerful enough to solo most classes regardless of their gear level, etc. There's a thousand tricks you can use to beat people if you're stubborn enough ... but paladin is probably the most consequential and important class in WoW Classic as far as control of PvP goes. Master positioning. Know when to back off. Get your trinkets (Tidal Charm, and Gnomish Into Goblin Engineering) and you can 1v1 almost every class in the game so long as you spec/prepare/bring consumes for the fight once you know how to play it. If you have your choice of items (you won't), and they have their choice of items (they may) -- Paladin generally wins 1v1 except against bad priests once Kel'Thuzad is on farm.

It is and it isn't. Since it's largely from private servers, there are things that were changed for the classic version of paladin. You will have to join the paladin discords in order to get the full numbers. But the general strats are just as viable, especially when he talks about deep holy being more for premades and holy reck being more versatile pug spec. Come phase 5-6 though, your spec will need like 5k health minimum, and most are getting close to 6k now, due to the classic version of classes having more burst than anticipated (look up holysaxyboy in the recent CDL EU tourney; he had like 5.6k health as a ret-reck spec lol).

I'd doubt it as tanking without consecration +improved righteous fury us joyless and reckoning doesn't really have a chance to proc in a raid environment

Ret was decent, especially after the 1.9 patch. The whole min/max stuff appeared because of kids who wanted to imitate the hardcore speed run guilds. Vanilla raids were designed for 20-30 people, if you had enough people who didn't stand in the fire and were not AFK during a boss fight, you could easily clear anything. People were clearing everything with fresh level 60 characters in mostly green gear, without any world buffs and consumables. Most didn't even have any addons, had TeamSpeak on mute, and were watching TV while raiding.
