Great review as always Rhys. A052 in my smsp experience, we only get about 70% through the lap before they completely fall off grip wise and right front on the fwd Hondas usually last about 4/6 hot laps over 3 15 minute sessions before they need to get binned. A052 is also great in the wet.
@rhysrhysrhysАй бұрын
Thanks Chris, appreciate it. No surprise that is your experience with A052s considering the pace and power you guys are running up there!
@cgrschannel7256Ай бұрын
@@rhysrhysrhys I also do think for dry running. RE71RS is a faster tyre and I think is able to do back to back laps.
@rhysrhysrhysАй бұрын
@@cgrschannel7256 yeah, the RE71RS is a really good tyre and probably the best overall tyre and will probably be where I end up after this set wears out.

nice review. I'll be intersted to try something new when i kill my curren Kenda KR20A Kaisers. Not looking forward to forking out for 18s in better-known brands though haha

Thank you for reviewing your tyres mate. It is very informative. Nice you're in AU. Looks like Japanese tyres suffer a bit here. Also, nice that you aren't biased to one brand👍🏽👍🏽
@rhysrhysrhysАй бұрын
@@cahernandezhe I wouldn't say they suffer, they are high performance tyres built for a certain purpose and that is fast individual laps. RE71RS, CRS and A052 are all great tyres if you choose the right one, or even another tyre in the 200tw category.

Excellent information Rhys!

A052 for sweaty single hot laps and hill climbs is how I feel. Nankang CRS on the EF at Honda Nationals was great but took take a bit longer to warm up and was a more consistent tyre to lap on. To try for me is RE71rs But more importantly CRS do look the best 😆

I'm looking to buy new street tyres for my turbo k24 ek. Narrowed it down to the RS4's, CRS, 595RS-RR and these RE71RS. How would you rank these tyres if you've used all of them?
@rhysrhysrhys2 ай бұрын
I assume your EK isn't a daily driver and grip is your main priority, especially from the lights or on a pull. I'd go RE71RS or CRS, I wouldn't bother buying any of the other mentioned. I am now running A052 (despite saying I wouldn't) and they have the best cold performance from what I've experienced.
@vongdong102 ай бұрын
@@rhysrhysrhysI just drive it a couple of times a week and yeah grip is what I need. Funny you mention the A052 as I was actually just checking them. Might go with them if they've good from cold.

@rhysrhysrhys what offset do your wheels have and what size are the A050's? I've got 15x8 +28 wheels and not sure of I should go 225 or drop down to 205 as they're a taller tyre and I don't want that much negative camber to make them fit wheel

@rhysrhysrhys3 ай бұрын
Other than a few goes on friend's sims, I've never spent any driving on them. I'd say I'm a terrible sim driver. If your local tracks or clubs have driver coaches, it'd be a worthy exercise for them to observe and highlight some improvements before you development (or further development) some negative driving habits. Sharing your videos and data (racechrono for example) with other people with varying experiences can also be helpful.

What could you have done better here?
@rhysrhysrhys4 ай бұрын
I came in 6km faster than I had all day, so a little slower on entry could have meant more control. Also not focused on the cone on the track and looked to where I was going rather than there. Past that, I could have accelerated instead of braked when the rear stepped out and it could have straightened out. It could have also stepped out the other way and who knows where I would have ended up at a much faster pace than I hit the wall this time. Overall, considering the speed I lost the rear (145km), I think I came out of it quite well.
