This video of Fairy the Greyhound running on the beach is absolutely beautiful. The scenery is gorgeous, and it’s so nice to see this dog getting to experience the sand and the water for the first time. Plus, Fairy is gorgeous herself. I’m so glad to see her so happy and well-behaved on this adventure.

I love that you allow your greyhound to experience the joy of freedom. I'm sure there are ppl who had a hissy fit, but done carefully in a secure area it's worth it. Love watching your escapades.

Thank you so much. We are considering having a greyhound and I started looking into it before we go and get a puppy this fall ( I have small children otherwise I would have considered having a rescue) A friend of ours is a dog trainer and she is very fond of greyhounds. She mentioned a play jacket because their skin damages easily, what is your experience with this. (questionmark is broken) Another question I have ; do you have to buy a lot of coats when they grow. Like.. are all these you have available in puppy size etc. Are there other things we need to think about before getting a pup. ( we are experienced dog owners, just never owned a greyhound)

I’ve never had a puppy so I couldn’t say about coats for puppies. Greyhounds are very good with children my daughter is young and Fairy works in a school as a therapy dog for 4-7 year olds so no reason you couldn’t get a retired greyhound. Fairy doesn’t wear a coat for play. She has never got cut although the skin is very delicate. It’s just a case of keeping her warm when it’s cold weather and cool when it’s hot weather

Was fun watching your videos. I used to race whippets on the west coast of the US. One of my dogs Churchill was matted with a UK lurcher. We raced them in organized straight runs and ovals. Take care and enjoy your great dog.

At least she chases the toy! Our greyhound rescues all look at us like we're idiots when we throw something for them to fetch. They'll only run after treats or small furry beings.

I so sympathize! My hound is just as fussy. Yet my friends with labradors, they wipe their bowls clean. (sigh) Oh, and then there's the eating all the chicken and leaving the kibble behind.

This is not a dog that you lose from sight after 10 seconds of her starting to run. She disappears in less than 5. Absolutely amazing. So pure.

One of my best memories and a its a picture my wife gifted me with for Christmas was my Two Great Danes, Racing each other on the beach. Running free with the wind. They were not fan of that "moving" water either. Made them nervous LOL

She is absolutely beautiful and clearly happy being off lead. Good for her and good for you. But, something to consider for people who adopt an ex racer. Your GreyHound can and will kill any small dog it sees. Even a large dog could be badly hurt or even killed by a GreyHound. Where other dogs bite and release, a GreyHound bites and tears. It takes time for an ex racer to socialize with dogs of varying sizes and temperament. They see only prey in other animals until they're socialized. Please be careful .... We don't want our GreyHounds to get into a situation where they become a villain for doing what is natural to them.

That is a misconception about greyhounds. You can’t generalise and say greyhounds kill small dogs! Please watch my 2 other videos greyhounds and small dogs and making friends where you will see that Fairy is kind and gentle playing with small dogs and absolutely would not kill one!

@@Fairythegreyhound we’ve bred and raced GreyHounds for 40 years. It’s no misconception. A dog fresh off the track has a prey drive incomparable to any other breed. They will kill anything they see as vermin. Most of these dogs were trained using Jack Rabbits. They see small dogs as vermin. It takes time for a greyhound to socialize towards small animals.

Well Fairy is not fresh off the track and is absolutely fine with even the smallest breed of dogs. She has never tried to chase another dog

As a human, I want to spend my retirement years solely with greyhounds. They are so beautiful, gracious, empathetic and emotionally intelligent. Hands down. ❤❤❤
