I trained with Dr House from ages 10-12 about 25 years ago. I am now teaching my son to pitch and it’s amazing how much the basic drills help him improve. Towel drills and the knee drill particularly

Shouldn't front foot plant have toes facing straight ahead down hill to home plate. His toes/foot were facing to the right when it lands.
@braedonmoeller952 жыл бұрын
the front foot can land with any angle as long as it is with ~15 deg of home plate. everyone has different anatomies, so requiring the foot to face home at 0 deg may seem unnatural, uncomfortable, or provide the athlete with more stability complications than necessary

Tom helped me safely throw a curveball for a strike consistently... I was able to throw many curveballs safely without hurting my arm... I only threw 70 in HS and never threw heat at a any time during my 4th grade through high school career... but my curveball helped me be an all star in single A American legion... Thanks Tom... you helped an average athlete throw a good curve... I was able to be somebody in high school and little leauge/pony leauge...because of you... I wouldn't have even been able to pitch effectivly in high school without working with you... I might have pitched only a little bit... and maybe not at all without you... if I would have pitched in HS or little leauge/pony league without your help I would have not been able to throw a lot of strikes and get a lot of hitters out... because I would have only had a slow fastball and wouldn't have been able to throw it for a strike consistently... I went to 4 or 5 of your clinics and got 2 or 3 one on 1 lessons... I was able to get my curveball over the plate for a strike in 8th grade and the summer after my sophomore year of HS in single A American legion... as well as in little league in 6th grade which was the first year that my city's pony league program allowed pitchers to throw curveballs... In 4th and 5th grade I was able to get my fastball over the plate for a strike and was pretty effective... but not as effective as my 6th grade year... 8th grade year... and sophomore year of HS when I was getting my curveball over the plate for a strike... because i never threw fast I had to have a good curve that I could consistently throw for a strike to be a good pitcher... Thank you Tom... Tom can take an otherwise 2 or 3 star athlete and turn them into gold... definitely get lessons from from Tom for your son if you can... either in a Tom House national pitching association clinic that Tom is actually at... or from someone who is certified to teach tom house pitching mechanics... either at a NPA clinic... or in a 1 on one lesson from a person that is certified to teach Tom house pitching mechanics at the NPA where they are located... ... one on one lessons help a lot... tom or a person certified by the national pitching association to teach Tom house pitching mechanics are able to help a high percentage of pitchers throw with perfect mechanics in a relatively small amount of time... and help them throw strikes and help them develop a curveball..split finger fastball (sinker)... and a change up as well as other pitches in a small amount of time... like a slider... cutter... or even a screwball... In 8th grade I struck out 11 batters in one game in 5 innings... In my mainly small Catholic school 7th and 8th grade league pitchers were only allowed to pitch 5 innings... I was on fire that game... if I would have been able to go 7 innings I probably would have struck out at least 1 hitter in the 6th and in the 7th inning for a total of 13 strikeouts in one game... I was able to throw a slider... a sinker... and a change up for a strike that game... and could throw my fastball exactly where I wanted to... i was also able to throw my pitches not only for a strike but I was able to hit the inside and outside corners... and throw my pitches in the upper and lower part of the strike zone... Tom had my mechanics perfect that year...If you throw with the 5 absolutes of piching Tom talks about your son will be a star if he has at least average athletic ability! If you practice with Tom and on your own he can help you throw at least 2 or more pitches to at least 2 or 3 locations... if you can pull this off you will be crazy effective... If your son plays infield or outfield still get lessons for your son for throwing mechanics even if he does not pitch... he will be able to throw with more velocity... further of course... and will be able to throw with better accuracy... Tom house teaches throwing mechanics for infielders and outfielders too

It’s good to know there are coaches out there that take pride in understanding biomechanics and truly understanding how our bodies work. There are a million coaches out there still telling kids to snap their wrist when they’re throwing a curveball. Undoing bad habits/advice can be tough for kids.
@Jeremy-The-Bullfrog3 жыл бұрын
The craziest thing about his delivery is how fast his body rotates, and how smoothly that rotation gets transferred to forward movement up along his body almost like a spring. You can see the energy get transferred through his whole body to the ball in a fraction of a second.

or Jump Backs - glute load drill variation. Trevor's explanation focuses more on the hip rotation (do this) / leg extension (don't do this) aspect of it. I've seen others talk about the glute load and then riding the back leg. But that leaves out describing the rotational component of the movement.
