Bought mine in 1998. It now has a metal carb. I run 100:1 Amsoil. I jam it into so much snow, only the snout and handle is sticking out and it's good to go. I've replaced the paddles two years ago. On EOD, I pick it up and put on the top of the pile and tilt the unit. The paddles chew into it like a piranha. On the real wet stuff, cut your passes to half width.

Thanks for walking through the insides of this machine. Can you tell me why you say you don't worry about replacing the LED light? at kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKKng5uAiN-eg9k We have lots of people using our two machines and the LEDs only flicker very faintly, so I was considering replacing them.

Torx head screws are an American design from 1967 by Textron. They were designed to stop the camout issue that was designed into Phillips head screws. The patent has expired so anyone can manufacture "Torx" head screws or star drive, lets go with Torx.

As a builder who uses this every day, it's not a good framing gun. I own a metabo and a bostitch framing that are both older and they're way better. The makita is always having problems. Jambs, doesnt drive the nails as well and all the screws loosen, actually lost some.
@n3qdz4 ай бұрын
I totally agree. As I have run through cases of nails the gun is very particular about the nails it likes. I don’t run two sticks. When I use the nails it likes it’s as reliable ad my old Dewalt gun was. I don’t have issues with depth of drive of nail, that’s never been an issue. I did have a chance to run the Metabo actually I ran two cases of nails through it and after those two cases of nails, I had to take the nail gun back to Lowe’s. It was worse than my old Porter cable. Thanks for your comment.
@clintmanning40044 ай бұрын
@n3qdz Yeah, I also have problems with all my framing guns running 2 racks of ring shanks. I've found the metabo brand ring shanks are the best, less likely jamb on all my guns. I do like makita, I own 2 of the 40v worm drive saws, love those things. Also own a handful of other makita tools. But I won't buy a framing gun by them anytime soon.

I know this is an old post and you haven't made any videos in a while, making it on YT is not an easy gig. You give good information....BUT you repeat too much. This 24 minute video could have been a third, about 8 minutes and had the same relevant information. If ever you do more in the future, edit the repetitiveness. Also, not just you, but others that do a lot of the 1 handed stuff in front of the camera, is frustrating to watch. Otherwise, you have subscribers, views and many videos, so you have done more than a multitude of people that try to make it on YT. I don't know the exact numbers but for every successful YTuber, many have failed. Good luck if you continue on.

Just picked this up from Home Depot (floor display) for $19. The clearance sticker said $95 down from $189. But it has been sitting on clearance since 10/23 and it’s now 07/24 I guess it’s been going down for the past 10 months. The store just didn’t keep up with the price tag, but thankfully they sold me the floor display because they were no more in stock at that store. Got home put a battery in it and thought maybe it was a dud! But then I realize you had to press the safety bar with the trigger at the same time. Worked extremely well, better than the Friskers manual has tremors work. Plus for $19 even if they didn’t work well I couldn’t complain.

Nice comparison! I have an original 550xpg and love the heated handles in winter. 2017 build and I have not had any issues. But I run minimum 40:1 ethanol free 91 octane. My only dislike is the outboard clutch, do not forget to disengage the chain brake before removing the clutch cover! PITA when in the woods. Yes, an addict. My only husky and one of 7 that I own.

Hi, am rebuilding one of these and I believe it’s leaking from the tank seal, so I have that on order, when taking it apart I took a pic of wires but it looks like the blanket Warmer had only one wire connected. Where does the other one go?

I have this same exact model that I am currently trying to fix. Ive gone through hours of troublshoot. Got this for $50 at thrift store so dont know its history. To this point i replaced one brass water line that had a hole in it. And ive replaced the bug nut on top of the flow control on the back because the previous nut was cracked open (almost looked as though someone may have dropped it). After replacing these obvious things then i proceeded to troubleshoot the operation of the machine. Putting water into the top I wanted to make sure the tank was full so it could heat. Well during this process i put too much water in and water started pouring down to the bottom. I thought from previous forums i found that if i overflowed it then remainder would just come out theough the spray head. Well i was wrong which i later found out the silicone seal to the tank wasnt sealed properly. Currently it almost appears as though the top of the tank where it is bolted to the top looks warped a little bit. Not sure if it is supoosed to be flat or if its just warped. Hopefully not because i dont want to accidentally overfill it in the future and have it leak again. Ill address the leak if i can get the machine working. I have now gone through a series of testing continuity at alot of points to find my issue. I currently cant get the brewing process to start. The heating element comes on and heats the water to close to 200 degrees (i checked with a thermometer) but the water never boils up through yhe tube into the spray head through the filter tray. Was hoping maybe you had some advice for the leak spot and if you think that top could have been warped and if you know why i cant get brewing to start. Thank you
@taylorsciame159 ай бұрын
So I disconnected the spray head tube to see if there was buildup and seems to be water going through okay. Maybe my syphon gasket wasn't connected properly not allowing vapor.pressure from boiling to allow pass through to the brew cup
@taylorsciame159 ай бұрын
Update so my tank cover was warped and welded screws on tank were bent outwards preventing the cover from coming off. So I had to put the nuts on and bang the screws back so I could take the lid off. When I did I also discovered a big hole in the coil. So far this thing had 1 hole in a brass line that goes to the solenoid and coil , the flow regulator had a big hole in it and now the coil has a big hole in it and the cover was extremely warped. I'm sensing this thing had a major failure. I'm tempted to now replace the coil, new gaskets and new cover and see what it does but I'm also nervous it will fail again. Maybe that first hole created bad pressure and just created a chain reaction eventually in other points ?

Do after ally parts came in and putting everything back together, the water heater heats the water and it clicks off automatically but once it's heated and I hit the start button it still wont brew. Any idea what could still be the problem?

How is the water level in the boiler determined? I have one that fills and keeps running and overflowing. There must be a sensor to trigger the fill valve?
@n3qdz10 ай бұрын
Mine has the same issue that I’m currently dealing with. 1st problem to look at it is the water solenoid. Sometimes it may not seal after you brew or just sitting there. If you have a instant hot water dispenser, you can have a leak in the circuit that is still feeding the boiler volume. When you do a boiler feed for the first time you have to do it when the machine is off. Then fill up the boiler till water comes out. Then turn on the machine and press brew you should be go to go

Thanks for review. I've got the Rigid system and been looking for ones with drawers . The ability to work out of drawers while stacked , makes them great in a customer's home , or apartment so your not bending over , with boxes all over the floor. Rigid finally came out with drawers but it waaay to heavy !! They needed a smaller unit for the middle of the set-up. . I can't make the jump to these , the Rigid like you said, the design and durability , and ease of stacking and unstacking is excellent. I think they still need an easily stackable system, thats easier to go up and down stairs . Honestly, if Rigid just comes out with a smaller drawer unit , I'm sticking with that.
