It ultimately depends on your current unit and if they will sign off on your conditional release form. Honestly, mine took about 8 months to get up the chain of command, mostly lack of communication. So I would try to keep an update on that form

So can i simply have them move my stuff and then drive my personal vehicle to my new unit? Also, is your husband enjoying the Army so far? I would have love to stay in the corps but they were being picky with supply 🤷‍♂️. Currently in school but I don't mind going back in the military. More benefits for me and my wife and again I actually enjoyed it.
@thengosyfam5458
@thengosyfam5458 4 жыл бұрын
Mr. Patterson that would be considered a “partial” dity move!! They should go over all of that during ur household good appointment. Just make sure u weigh ur personal vehicle empty (no gas) then weigh it after (w gas and things in the trunk like suitcases, etc.) then they should reimburse u for that. i would recommend bringing essentials in ur POV bc the military movers sometimes deliver ur household goods late. Also, he is loving the army!! There is so much more room to grow, to learn and experience different opportunities. And thats awesome ur going to school!! Have u thought about doing the green to gold program? We dont know much about it but thats something to look further into if ur interested!

@thengosyfam5458 4 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I did the inter-transfer program from reserves USMC to active duty army. Since I did not have a break in service - I skipped out on their basic training and went straight to AIT. If you have 3 years or LESS of break in service you can skip out on it too. but if its more than 3 years then you’re gonna have to do their basic training/OSUT. Their AIT now has drill sergeants but as a prior service - its pretty chill - pretty much just going to class. My wife just stayed with her parents until I got hard orders, then we just moved together.

My husband and I are at at fort eustis Virginia right now but have orders to fort hood I just had a few questions sorry. Lol Like many hours in total did it take you guys and how long did you stop for. And how did you figure out what hotel you guys ended up staying at? Sorry this is our first PCS
@thengosyfam5458
@thengosyfam5458 4 жыл бұрын
Hey girl! No worries, this was our first PCS move too so I understand! Sooo when my husband got out of AIT, they gave him 4 days of travel leave (they calculate that by the mileage from Point A to Point B so you guys should have the same amount of days since you guys are leaving from VA too). Since we drove separate vehicles (him in the Penske and me in our personal vehicle) we took a little longer since we couldn’t switch on and off so we broke it up like this: Day 1: 7 hours from richmond to knoxville Day 2: 6 hours knoxville to memphis Day 3: 5 hours memphis to texarkana Day 4: 5 hours Texarkana to fort hood! I also booked the hotels before so it was like a “goal” for us to make it to each destination (use Booking.com -> we got really cheap deals). in total we probably drove around 24/25 hours with the penske truck (the max mph is 70 lol). But if you guys are only driving one vehicle you guys can get there faster by switching on and off from one another. Also!! If you want to sight see, you guys can maybe stop in cities y’all want to explore/eat at that are on the way! I used Google Maps to make a mini itinerary to map it all out! Hope this helps :)
