I might be a few days late to comment but I feel like a reason why so many people don't play Scum is due to the issues, I played it a few years back with my father the first ever survival game I played that was realistic, it was pretty fun and a few annoying features like you used to be able to shoot birds out of the sky with bows kinda thing, but the newer updated kinda ruined some of the older fun features which is why me and my dad left Scum behind and moved to DayZ (of course I might be wrong on the newer updates as I haven't touched the game in years)

I might as well suggest Oxygen Not Included. It starts off like a lot of other survival games. But it evolves into something quite unique by mid-late game. I think it's definitely unique enough to be on here. Especially if the qualifying feature is "difficulty." Playing Oxygen Not Included blind, without guides, might be one of the hardest games you will ever play.

Pve only, green hell is way harder than dayz, hands down. Dayz survival isn't too bad once you get used to the basics, find a knife or a stone/bone and you are set for the entire game. Greenhell is just miserable trying to balance the 3 different macro nutrients you need plus water and sleep, not to mention the abundance of shit that can go wrong. Pretty good list, I'd agree with the opinions as I've played most of these

Not exactly a survival game but Kenshi is another one to consider. It's and RPG/RTS/squad-managment/sandbox game. Even when you know what you're doing, the game is still ridiculously hard! Unless you blatantly cheat, then it's slightly less hard...

Give me green hell or ark but with the option of easier difficulty if you want or even (FOR ONCE) A freedom sandbox mode, and it would be the actual perfect, (almost) most beautiful, and best building survival game out there. A chance to slow down and just see how far you've come and enjoy the scenery. :)

I feel the exact opposite with my adhd being really bad and sometimes my ability to absorb hours of information just to play the game and forget all of it in 2 seconds really frustrates me lol, at least from my experience and the survival games I've played. For all you hardcore gamer chads out there, could you recommend me some easier survival games that still have decent graphics and some good content and things to do? I'll paste of a quick summary of what I was thinking of, from another comment I made earlier. :) I basically just want a fun, peaceful and easy-ish survival game (with no starting over from the beginning crap if you die) but still have challenging survival moments and things, and exhilarating moments maybe depending on where you go, but you can also avoid bad and scary stuff all together if you want. Like, 2 ways to play, or many ways to play, suitable for all players and enjoyers of survival, but simple survival along with other stuff, like hunting, collecting, crafting and building. With good structure building, doesn't take too long and isn't too tedious or hard to understand. Has things you can do/have to do on the side like picking herbs and making medicine for wounds or sickness, food poisoning from raw foods or the wrong mushrooms, a book telling you what kind of plant you need, but being able to hold the book open and compare/look around. Maybe even a (WELL BALANCED AND NOT TEDIOUS) Water system where you obviously need to drink water but able to find resources to craft things to store a lot of water, so you don't have to take trips back and fourth and to boil the water over and over again, like something in raft where they had a rain collector thing eventually made, after using flasks and stuff for awhile or buckets lol. But its not super tedious to the point of green hell (Which is incredible and amazing but sadly my adhd could never-) Simple and realistic survival techniques and things to do, but not to the extreme point of having to learn and retain every little detail of knowledge about the game to survive. A game based off the survival show to win money, naked and afraid, would also be a really interesting concept for a survival game as well, maybe even survival pve muliplayer or something. I could see that blowing up a little because of survival game open world games being pretty big, as well as the whole squid games thing being pretty popular rn. Plus, I don't think we've ever had anything like it before, except for an old wii game called survivor, based on the show. It was actually pretty legit and fun playing against the CPU, but the unique and really fun mini-games and survivor challenges are where it shined. The graphics were just trash.

I play long time The Long Dark,Don't Starve Together,ARK and Forest(my opinion): 1)In The Long Dark in hardesr mode surviving super hard; 2)In Dont Starve Together surviving kinda easy if you normal player, because you can achive best weapons, armor and farms,in 100+ days surviving is very easy and surviving not main goal(main - base building, boss killing and etc); 3)In The Forest its not so hard, because main goal - caves; 4)In ARK solo mode surviving also kinda easy, main goal - dinosaur domestication. My opinion: The Long Dark - depends on difficulty mode, easy to very hard Don't Starve Together(or basic Dont Starve and dlc) - easy The Forest - depends difficulty mode, easy to hard ARK - kinda depends raitse(for example in 2x you farm 2 wood,in 3x 3) and map,I think easy to hard (Thx if you reade my comment :) and sorry for mistakes,my English A2)

*To anyone who's thinking about buying this game.* Rust is genuinely incomparable with any other survival games besides ark purely down to the addiction factor it has, this game is the equivalent of a gambling addiction only the difference is a gambling addiction ends when you run out of money. Dayz and Rust have similar features but they genuinely shape your brain in a whole different way. In dayz it's fun, intense, strategic and its a game that constantly develops your playstyle to be more and more ruthless overtime, and most of the time there's no hard feelings because it's rarely personal. Rust has the same things as dayz just more cruel and nearly inhumane, I've seen great friends betray eachother over a few aks, there was even this one guy that found my friends mother on facebook and started sending her death threats and blackmailing my friend to leave the area or he'll swat his mums house. I also remember these people i met ages ago who I killed and for days and days they'd just sit at my base shooting me over and over shit talking me even while offline and I just got off because of being fed up and then they started calling me slurs telling me to kill myself saying im pathetic for quitting even though it was 2v8 and ao much random crazy stuff, Rust is just filled with bullies that have nothing else but rust in life. Never once had I experienced anything like that in DayZ. In DayZ Most people I killed we'd meet again and laugh about it but in rust it's all about getting personal and making it your lifestyle.

I'd put the Forest up closer to the top. I mean, honestly, there's no map and a TON of stuff you have to find just in the caves alone. It's impossible UNLESS you watch a tutorial.

You have Green Hell a rank above the Long Dark? GH is piss easy once you learned the basic mechanics, TLD will kill you every time on Inteloper if you don't pay attention (even after 100's hours). I don't think you have enough knowledge to properly rank survival games. Well not those 2 anyway.

rust players can get geared easily within a few days and only have to worry about other players the dayz map is huge compared to rust and theres a lot of running and effort to getting geared that can get ended in any moment dayz survival is also completely different in like terms of food and water you cannot compare a game mostly about pvp to a actual survival based game and you know in dayz you cant just research a item and craft it later u literally have to find it or kill someone for it

Honestly I’ve been sick of how games are branded as survival games but are just pvp simulators that don’t care about survival aspects like the only things they add that relate to survival is easy to get food and easy to get water making it litterally unnecessary to even add food or water since it doesn’t matter in the slightest

1: I'd say you're about right with stranded deep. Also the game is kinda buggy and doesn't look great, but it's actually fun if you give it a chance. Better if you have a friend to play with, so you guys can laugh at the amount of glitches and bugs and how ridiculous some things look lol. 2. I'm glad you put green hell at impossible. Tried thst one after stranded deep and it really was impossible for us. They make the most mundane things so hard for no reason. I can take a drink of water irl easier than I can in the game. It's ridiculous. Also, how can I not tell where I'm injured without examining my entire body? If you get hurt irl, you know where you're hurt by where the pain is. It's not like you have to stop and be like "I'm injured but idk where. Let me check my entire body to see where I got that pain at" lol. Game is way more complicated than it needs to be smh

lol i would've ranked the forest and sons of the forest on the bottom, potentially scary but not really hard at all, all monsters and cannibals are super easy to maneuver, they have the highest rate of completion of all these games according to steam achievements meanwhile ark deserves to be at the top, no one beats that game on official settings without trading for some other tribe's neutered alpha dinos they spent 5 years breeding, it's the only game on this list that less than 0.01% of the playerbase actually beat legitimately, and this isn't even accounting for the overwhelming difficulty that is dealing with alpha tribes in pvp zomboid is pretty easy with the right build and after you master the simple act of kitting, the game really isn't that deep after the initial hurdle DayZ's pvp is easier than Ark with non-existent pve, questionable ranking, don't think learning curve of building mechanics is an appropriate difficulty criteria terraria and valheim were a bit underrated, the official stats on people beating the last boss are quite low, i honestly think beating moonlord is harder than beating elden ring, and people often get hardstuck on the plains stage in valheim cuz of the deathsquitos lol
