At this point Sony oughta just release the original sound effect for us to use (if they have it somewhere in their archives of course. Where the ridiculously common incorrect version came from I have no idea).

Nope, it's not fake. It was featured in the beginning of Ghostbusters 2, with Ecto 1 being run down and the siren worn out but still working.

I actually recreated that yelp, it sounds accurate and definitely unique when I include it with my siren on my Ecto.

@Edda Heo Funnily enough that's _exactly_ how the sound of Ecto-1's iconic siren was made: sound designer Richard Beggs took a recording of a leopard snarling (which one we don't know: if we did we could try making our own rendition of the siren from it), reversed it, & slowed it down as well.

Well obviously that siren was removed (& subsequently replaced with the one we all know & love) during the conversion process.

You know, maybe that's actually the Federal Signal C5GB siren we see mounted on Ecto-1 later on: perhaps they put it there in case they ever needed to use it (with permission from the city of New York of course), or as a trinket from when Ecto-1 was still an ordinary ambulance (just for the heck of it).

First of all, if it is the original sound, another tone is missing, which was difficult to achieve, since it was extracted from the films and the audio was filtered and as a result this tone remained even if you listen to it with part of the music, because was taken from the intro of ghostbusters 2. The missing tone is the one that would make wee-eee sound, that is, one tone and this tone.

Afterlife actually ended up using both the popular siren and the original siren that it had back in '84 and '89, so i guess they still have it lying around in their files or something.
