ECTO 1 ORIGINAL SIREN SOUND

I leave you, the original siren of Ecto 1, from the film Ghostbusters, it is a montage that I made based on some parts of the siren, and I have used filters to remove all the noise around it and leave only the sound, there will be details that are noticeable in the sound, but it is what could be filtered.

Funny thing is when Ray first pulls up at the firehouse with the car that became Ecto-1 it had a conventional 50's-style police siren, not the iconic siren we're all familiar with.

Well obviously that siren was removed (& subsequently replaced with the one we all know & love) during the conversion process.

You know, maybe that's actually the Federal Signal C5GB siren we see mounted on Ecto-1 later on: perhaps they put it there in case they ever needed to use it (with permission from the city of New York of course), or as a trinket from when Ecto-1 was still an ordinary ambulance (just for the heck of it).

About time someone tried to get &/or replicate the original siren sound considering the version EVERYONE uses is inaccurate to the original. Now if only someone also tried to do the same with Ecto-1's "yelp" tone as well (AKA the tone heard in the first movie's montage).

I actually recreated that yelp, it sounds accurate and definitely unique when I include it with my siren on my Ecto.

It's great! The original sound is different from what you usually find on the internet and in sirens that are sold for cars. Ghostbusters The Video Game and Ghostbusters Afterlife use that popular sound effect, but it doesn't sound the same as it does in the original 2 movies.

TRUE! Even because it is a filtered montage, another tone of the siren is missing, because it uses two tones, one that the beginning is fast and louder and at the end it is slower and this

Afterlife actually ended up using both the popular siren and the original siren that it had back in '84 and '89, so i guess they still have it lying around in their files or something.

Sony Pictures has a video up that has Ecto-1's original siren in it, and it has a lot less music maybe if you take that one, filter out the background noise, and have it on a loop, you should be good. here it is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jauyfairfLhol6s

At this point Sony oughta just release the original sound effect for us to use (if they have it somewhere in their archives of course. Where the ridiculously common incorrect version came from I have no idea).

@Edda Heo Funnily enough that's _exactly_ how the sound of Ecto-1's iconic siren was made: sound designer Richard Beggs took a recording of a leopard snarling (which one we don't know: if we did we could try making our own rendition of the siren from it), reversed it, & slowed it down as well.

First of all, if it is the original sound, another tone is missing, which was difficult to achieve, since it was extracted from the films and the audio was filtered and as a result this tone remained even if you listen to it with part of the music, because was taken from the intro of ghostbusters 2. The missing tone is the one that would make wee-eee sound, that is, one tone and this tone.

Nope, it's not fake. It was featured in the beginning of Ghostbusters 2, with Ecto 1 being run down and the siren worn out but still working.
