Skian Button checking in here. Sweet videos really brings me back. Although I am still working on my masters in spineology, as it's a lifelong learning journey. Keep shredding

Thank you for sharing the process. I’ve had my own sledding adventures (aka sled meets gully) and I agree - the sled ride in is sometimes the worst part-lol.

Mali, just wanted to note that your content kicks ass. A few years ago you did a video about a long run you were doing (WURL?) and it inspired me to push myself into ultra running and long distance running. Now, I am not the skier you are, but seeing you navigate and push in the mountains is an inspiration and keeps folks like me stoked to keep pushing our mental limits and enjoying these moments in nature. All the best and have a great 2025 season!

I skied in wisconsin in -30 and a bit lower. that was before I discovered backcountry in the PNW, where it doesn't get cold enough and the difficulty is dressing light enough to not get wet. I have backcountry toured in BC though in well below 0 weather (F), and when you're working for your turns, it's pretty easy to stay toasty when you stay dry and layer. I definitely recognize that styrofoam sounding snow. Nice vid Mali. Loved your antarctic trip with your dad!

All skiing is pretty fun! I’m on the Echo’s which honestly was probably not the best choice for the deep snow.

To echo what lots of other comments say, love the personal forecasting before even looking at the public avy forecast. What resource do you use for previous/current snow conditions when making your forecast? I have a lot of place I know to go for good weather forecasts, but wasn't sure where to look for snow conditions (sun crusts, new snow, facets,etc,). I wasn't sure if that was all coming from personal observation or if there is some place some of that more local snow condition information might be posted if you aren't super tuned into a locations snowpack throughout the season.
@malinoyes20 күн бұрын
Great question! I have different sources depending on where I'm skiing, but usually within an area's avalanche forcast site there is a tab for weather history (which is maybe what you are already looking at?). But things such as how much new snow in the last 24 hours, in the last 12 hours, the current snow level and how much it has settled in the last 24 hours, wind and wind direction, freezing levels, and temps high and low are all things that can help you understand the snowpack and conditions. I also look at observations on the avalanche site, which often give you snow condition information. Thanks for your feedback, I'll make a video with more details on this topic!
