I am a simple guy, I see a WURL video, I upvote. Great video and great job.

It took me three attempts just to do Monte Cristo. These peaks are no joke. Much respect for people that do the WURL. The fact that Alex Honnold is talking about it shows it’s pretty crazy. Be safe out there.

Loved Mali’s story and the context of all the people-who-move-fast-through-the-mountains. Thanks for putting this together.

We love everything about beautifully told story. The talking heads with their recorded times really added something special - the sense of community around the WURL and the mountains in general shone through in a wonderful way. Thanks for sharing this story. ❤🏔️

Congrats 🎉! Amazing video, best one I've seen. I completed the WURL in 4 sections, 4 Saturdays in a row in September 2024. That was very hard for me as a strong hiker/scrambler, combining those sections is going to be nuts. Next summer I'm shooting for just 2 sections, then hopefully I can put it all together in 2026 🤞

Well done!!! Over the past 4 years, I have done almost all of the segments of the WURL (Superior, Devil’s Castle, Pfeifferhorn, Lone Peak). At 59, I don’t *think* I’ll ever do the whole thing in one go, but this amazing film makes me think, maybe… Thanks!!! You are awesome!!!🎉🎉🎉

Great job Mali! Awesome video. I have hiked a lot of those peaks but could never fully complete this no matter how hard I tried. I love seeing people complete the WURL!

Takes another breed. While I was at the top of twin peaks, I met a guy doing the WURL solo and he was cookin. By the time I reached the saddle between twins & sunrise, he was already nearing dromedary.

I have climbed a number of these peaks. I have spent my life in these mountains. I would never dream of trying to do what these crazy people are doing.

This video kicks ass. Lots of good interviews, great graphics, and awesome cinematography. I personally would have bailed to drink beer at Oktoberfest had I survived to that point.

25 years ago, moving solo over class 3 and class 4 with nobody around commanded my respect. Turned around on class 4 several times and lived to tell the tale. See, e.g., Little Bear and Crestone Needle in San de Cristos. Ever try your hand at Nolan’s 14? How about the ridgeline directly perpendicular and south of Mt. Rainier? Another old timer, Matt Mahoney, cooked up his Crestone Marathon where he traversed the line of 14 ers in the San de Cristos.

I’ve think this type of thing would be more impressive if it was unsupported,
@Towm8er-i8zАй бұрын
What was your unsupported time?

The weight of water would be the biggest hindrance right? Are there spots to filter
@traviss8354Ай бұрын
The only spots to filter are at the start in Ferguson Canyon and at the end in Bells Canyon. The rest of the route is along the ridge top with no water. There's maybe a couple of spots where you could drop off the, route descend several hundred feet, get water, then regain the elevation you lost to get back on route, which would be miserable. Some have done it unsupported. It looks like they go early season when it's not as hot and they can melt snow on the route for water.
@gculligan55Ай бұрын
Usually unsupported attempts are made in the spring as there are some patches of snow available to melt into water at a few different points. However, the unsupported record was done in late October 2022 with a time of 21:25:05 by Vitaliy Musiyenko. The prior record was in spring at around 27 hours
@gculligan55Ай бұрын
Also the general rule of thumb is that any time under 24 hours is very legit. Lots of strong folks have failed to break 24 on multiple attempts.

As an experienced mountain guide and wilderness paramedic heading out with smoke conditions is a way to seriously damage your lungs brains and vagus nerves. This isn’t wise. Why is this extolled as macho wonderful adventure when it’s actually irresponsible and dangerous.

Was she racing time to beat someone else's record, or get some kind of PR?
@malinoyes8 күн бұрын
yes, I was trying to get the fastest female time, but once I knew I wasn't on pace for that I was just trying to get the most out of myself and see how fast I could go.
@hefnhef1Ай бұрын
I seem to see more and more trailrunners on terrain I doubt they have the experience/training to travel safely on - exposed 3rd and 4th class rock, glaciers, steep snow. Of course, with minimal gear and absolutely no gear to self-rescue. Scary. But hey, all it takes now to bail yourself out is the press of a button and SAR comes to your rescue. Insulting to those who've put in the time to learn the proper skills.
