What issue did u have with the old cush rubbers?
@themustacheman
@themustacheman 2 ай бұрын
Our issue was sluggish acceleration from a standstill. It would feel like a loose chain, but would continue to occur after the chain was correctly tightened. Let the clutch out normally and accelerate away. If you feel resistance or the bike feels like its "dragging" then put the bike on the centre stand and rotate the rear wheel around its axle. If wheels moves and the rear sprocket stays stationary for a little bit, your cush rubbers are worn out. The sprocket will have a little play but if it looks and feels major then the rubbers are worn down and not allowing for the full rotational forces to be applied to the rear wheel from the sprocket.
@themustacheman
@themustacheman 2 ай бұрын
Also if the bike feels jerky from deacceleration, then that may be an issue. A bike should smoothly deacceleate and then smoothly apply the power to the wheels when acceleration occurs. If the bike jerks backwards and forwards and it doesnt feel smooth - check the rubbers.

I do plan on doing an update on this bike. Yes it was firing on only 3, just needed a new plug. Shes firing on all 4 now, but we have a rectifier issue. Got a new rectifier but the wiring is a mess and I need a new connector to refit the rectifer to the wiring harness. Bit of a pain but some soldering and shrinky rubber should be all I need.

You can remove the stickers but.... The stickers fit in this strange groove set out by the manufacturer. By removing the stickers, you will expose this small gap. Its not very noticeable but a bit annoying for perfectionists.

Brazil have some strange laws regarding motor vehicles as far as I am aware. Is it true that they do not allow imports? Or vehicles that are readily available outside of Brazil? I am unsure on the reasons why but the cars sold in Brazil are mostly unique to Brazil and not sold anywhere else. It is rather strange haha
@Eron.8

@@themustacheman Imports are permitted, but with a lot of bureaucracy. Currently the government is banning imports of carbureted vehicles due to new environmental laws. Here there are also many branches of car manufacturers such as Honda, Yamaha and many others that unfortunately will have to adapt to the new laws. So, for these companies, unfortunately, it is not worth selling some vehicle models here because of the absurd taxes

Very nice, i have a Citroen C1 2010 my biting point is almost half way up kinda annoying, can i adjust it sop i have it very far down to the floor instead? and how do i know if the clutch isnt slowly slipping or putting tention?
@themustacheman
@themustacheman 8 ай бұрын
Yes you can, you just need to loosen the cable so you have more play. This will cause the biting point to be closer to the floor. To be honest - your best bet is to feel the clutch operation. Does it slip whilst you are driving, do you experience a lack in acceleration after changing gears temporarily, do you struggle to get it into reverse? Also, the mileage of your car. Normal clutch operation usually calls for a clutch replacement after 60,000-80,000 miles. Also, run the car in neutral. Listen to the transmission, it should be silent. Press down on the clutch pedal fully. Do you hear a rattling noise? It might sound like a dodgy bearing. This is a sign that your clutch throw bearing is wearing out. If the noise is faint and quiet, then it should be fine. If the noise is loud and squeaky, its probably an indication that your clutch plates and throw bearings need to be changed. These jobs are done together - when ordering a new clutch, it will come with a new bearing. It would be silly to replace just the throw bearing, as you might as well do the clutch plates or even the flywheel if the teeth are worn. A low mileage car will probably just need the clutch cable adjusted. Your french car may have a hydraulic clutch, therefore the process for adjusting the cable may be different. If it is a cable, then do not worry, my video should be able to help.

I left my Suzuki for maybe 2 weeks and the battery went flat and it wouldn't start. I left this yamaha between september to december in a cold garage and it started right up in negative degree temps. I came off it and bent some levers and still rode it home no problem. I rode it down big A roads at 60mph for hours and hours, had to brake very suddenly and quickly and stalled the bike as it came to a stop, and it started up again completely fine. I am sure there is more abuse to this bike that I have blocked out and forgotten. It has managed to survive being owned by me... Yamaha best bike

I used a Crosland Oil filter with a height of 57mm, outer diameter of 60mm and an inner diameter of 28mm. The part number given on a website is 501820158. The oil filter comes with a plastic piece. I did not use the plastic piece as the oil can funnel into the filter without it, I believe

@@themustacheman Thanks I wound up finding a good parts shop and got a Daihatsu filter. The little plastic piece you can use to drain the filter before you unscrew the housing. That little spot for a 3/8 drive takes off a cap on the housing, then stick the plastic bit in and it pushes up a spring valve, oil drains out of the filter. Helps keep things tidy
