Great review, I received mines yesterday with the SM black enamel dial and is beautiful. I have the seiko sumo gmt solor power sfk001, but wanted an automatic black dial version and the SM hit the pocket at $150 during their Christmas sale. The only thing I wish SM would have made the case lug to lug a few millimeters longer as the original seiko sumo. I have plans for doing a dial and hand swap on the San Martin. I love Oris … there is products (finishing on the case and the rubber bracelets) are amazing and high quality… the new caliber 400 is very good. I will even say the fishing on Oris cases are better than any Tudor

San Martin use the same brushing and polishing process as Grand Seiko, and it's called Zaratsu, although it can only be called Zaratsu id done in Japan. I own several luxury watches including a Rolex and a Tudor, and the case finishing equals all all of them

@@watchalot919 Hi, Zaratsu is done by hand which is not the case with San Martin watches. However, I agree with you that San Martin watches are beautifully finished.

@@watchalot919 The sallaz/zaratsu machine consists of a spinning disk against which you press the case of the watch. However, the process is not automated. It's the craftsperson who needs to manually control it the whole time. Yes. It happens when there isn't enough light. Go outdoors and it's easy to do.

I have never considered purchasing a quartz watch that expensive until I had an opportunity to get my hands on them and compare all three, including different generations of Astron and Attesa. I ended up buying the new Astron SSH151 cause it was the most thought out and refined to my eye while Attesa looked a bit like a toy and MR-G was too bulky. Although Astron might not be everyone's кап of tea it's a truly awesome timepiece!

Great review. Just one caveat, Stainless steel is typically harder than titanium, thus is harder to work than Titanium unlike what you said. Titanium is more expensive and lighter though.

Their all standard un adjusted movements f y.i. also, any certified watchmaker can work on the movements but as far as gaskets crystals etc all need too be ordered through their only service center in tge us and cost an arm and a leg

Not bad for around 1400.00 only thing stopping me from another oris purchase is the lack of parts. They only use 1 service center in all of the U S. Plus being quoted over 300 bucks for a replacement sapphire not including installation is keeping me away

Ghost date can be dangerous to the watch, one might change the date by accident at the wrong time, which may damage the movement…

@@kingcold7138 Not really. It can damage the teeth that change the date and so the date won't change properly but since we don't have a cut-out for the date, it doesn't really matter.
