I got the blue one and in terms of quality for money paid its the best watch i've ever owned. Incredible piece. Only criticism i have is the movement rotor is more noticeable in terms of noise and wobble than in any other miyota powered watch I've experienced but thats the tradeoff for the slim profile i guess.

Date is not centered inside date frame - I've read reviews on Ali stating the same. How sharp are underside edges on the bracelet? People are complaining about it, too. For $350, would be nice if they paid attention to these small (but awfully annoying) details 😒

Hi there, I just had a closer look at the watch and while the date is slightly to the right, it's extremely difficult to see this imperfection with the naked eye. I guess in my video since it's so zoomed in, it looks a lot more obvious. Either way to me that's acceptable and it doesn't bother me at all. As far as the bracelet goes, I see no problems whatsoever. When I pass my finger I can feel the edge just like I do on my SN017 🤷🏼.

Yeah, I rushed the editing part yesterday after work and ended up exhausted. Also made a mistake with the on-screen dimensions as I typed that the case diameter is 49mm lol. Hi, when you buy from Aliex to Europe do you have to pay VAT and import duties on arrival? Or is there a way to pay everything upfront to Aliexpress?

I rarely get charged any duty fees. Occasionaly, I'm asked to prove the value of the watch and then pay the corresponding fees. I guess there is a chance that you may have to pay some tax, but there's also a chance you get lucky. As far as I know, there's no way to pay up front.

I've been asking the same question recently. It seems that below a certain price threshold, AliXpress add the VAT and you can then forget it. Over that threshold, it seems to be a bit of a lottery. I just paid £155 for a SM, and didn't have to pay any extras. But as I say, it's just a gamble on whether your package is singled out or not.

Beautiful watch, but I can't help but feel that San Martin are homaging their own customer (Erebus, ascent). Looks like they took the design from the best selling orange fume dial version, tweaked the O style bracelet and brushing on the case, and swapped out the hands for lumed markers.

@@carlvoxvires But has it been confirmed that San Martin makes the Erebus watches? Besides the dial color I don't see any other similarities. The handset and the indices of the San Martin are the same as the one used in their sn0129 models which were released way before the Erebus. The case and the bracelet are also different. So I don't think San Martin is even inspired by the Erebus. I'd rather say the dial was influenced by Straum watches.

@@TheBoldHairspring Good points. It's not been confirmed, but as there are only so many factories making this style of watch I imagine it would either be SM, Cronos or Sugess factories. Considering Jody has rarely reviewed Sugess or Cronos, and over the last year he's reviewing a lot of SM models that would suggest the link to me. All watches look similar to some degree, but I just get a feeling that this is the same case with more brushing, with the parts-bin for old models brought out for the hands and movement. They've added a nice new slimline bracelet and clasp which I'm a fan of though. They could create a new Tudor BB58 GMT using this format, but they would need a thin GMT movement or larger bubble case back and raised crystal to fit it into this case. I believe that they could achieve it though.

Did San Martin rip off Erebus?

Yes and no. Erebus popularizes the sort of orange gradient dial but Erebus' is sunburst (and orange) whereas this one isn't ( and more like brown in color). And chances are San Martin is the oem behind the Erebus watches. So Erebus' use of the Miyota 9000 series movement, means that San Martin has ordered them in bulk,so they might just as well incorporate it into one of their watches. Other than those, this takes more design cues from Grand Seiko than Erebus, but San Martin makes enough changes that this could almost be called its own.

I have this exact one and I’m returning it. Overall the quality is okay. The dial looks like a sticker and the bracelet feels super cheap. With all the praise San Martin gets I expected better
