Hey bro. My cr85 won’t stop smoking! I bought it broke and I did the top and bottom end myself! Replaced the crankseal againnnnn and it’s STILL smoking. Any ideas? I’m bout to take out the oil seal again, this time use hi temp silicone on the edges and let it dry before I fill up. I’m going crazy trying to figure out why it could be. Leaking. It shifts perfect, top end sounds good, just the spewing black oil and thick white smoke. =[
@quickshiftoutdoors
@quickshiftoutdoors Ай бұрын
@WestHaddnin possibly tore seal on install. I would buy a new seal do not reuse one. Could also be bad head gasket( burning coolant does it smell sweet ?) or residual oil that has built up in the expansion chamber and silencer. Take off exhaust and repack silencer and clean out the expansion chamber. Also what is your mix ratio and what oil ?
@WestHaddnin
@WestHaddnin Ай бұрын
I’m hoping that I tore the seal on install. I changed the headgasket 3 times just to make sure. It doesn’t really smell sweet, it smells like like transmission oil is being burnt. Just weird I changed it twice so far and still the same thing. I just ordered some pro-x seals which are supposedly made in the OEM factories because the last 2 times I used vertex seals. As soon as it I get them I will install it and keep you posted . Btw, I’m using Lucas 2cycle mix 40:1. Same mix I use in my cr85 2006 with no issues.

Does anyone know how to remove the lower rebound part out from the lower fork lug? I need to replace my stanchions as the chrome is heavily pitted.
@quickshiftoutdoors
@quickshiftoutdoors 3 ай бұрын
I sold my 510 so I'm not sure if those forks have them or not but there's usually a little grub screw that's loctited in you need to remove and then the chrome tube threads out of the fork leg. You have need to also apply heat to the frok leg to get the chrome tube to thread out. Obviously this is also with the spring and fork cartridge removed from the fork as well.

@@quickshiftoutdoors thanks, I can get the stanchions out of the fork lugs but I’m struggling to get the cartridge out from the bottom of the fork lug. Seems there is a tool required for this to hold the internals. Will try again tomorrow.

Don't know why I watch the video it's because I almost bought a Husqvarna I think it was a 2008 250 awesome looking bike and it was the full out Husqvarna emblems all over the bike awesome looking I didn't see it in person it was on Facebook Marketplace I fell in love with the bike I didn't buy it it was only I think twenty-six hundred bucks and the kid would have met me halfway would have been about 125 miles he would have come from Illinois and I'm from Southern Missouri but that's why I got rid of my KLR! IMe 5.9 in my feet wouldn't touch the ground even with lowering link low-profile seat and sliding my front tubes up about an inch and a half . tired of falling down, it was a big adventure bike with full dress big aluminum pan years everything, heavy for off-road and with a spinal cord injury paralyzed ankles it was hard! I had the bike a couple years ,I met my challenge! but then I sold it and wanted to get something smaller so I ended up buying a 2009 Honda CRF 230 M and I just outfitted it with big rugged Adventure tires. I don't have it home yet! it's in the shop I've been so anxious to get it here I'm going to turn it into a mostly off-road Enduro with homemade rigid saddlebags for Holing my hunting equipment into the woods .I put a bigger sprocket on it in the back from 38 teeth to like 52

@quickshiftoutdoors
@quickshiftoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
If oil is on back tire and brake then it is more then likely coming from your silencer. 2 stroke silencers need to be repacked every so often. You can get 2 stroke muffler repacking from most motorsports stores. Also if oil is extremely excessive its possible you have crank seals that are blown and sucking in oil from the gearbox.
