Isn't the SWM 500 a HUSKY 510?.

The SWM500 is based off the 2009 or 2010 husky 510. Alot of the parts are interchangeable but some are not. I believe they are actually made in the same factory as the 510 as well.

I've heard good things about the SWM's. They are basically the same bike as the 09 husqvarna. Made in same factory. Many parts are interchangeable as well.

Hey I know this video is a year old now but have a question for you. I agree with everything you say with your 5. I own both. 2007 DRZ400SM and the 08 SMR510. (took me 2 years to find one for sale that wasn't 6k) But I prefer the DRZ over the smr. My drz has the 435 kit and its a blast to ride and has pulling power up to 70 then just starts dying off and is so comfortable to ride long distance. Now the SMR handles amazing and has crazy power but the one thing I hate about it is that I feel its always fighting me with what gear it should be in. I've owned it for probably 3 years now and only put 500 miles on it (7000 miles on it) . I just ordered a new 20 Husqvarna 701 and im debating the idea of letting the SMR go. My question is do you have the same shifting issue? (Also the guy i bought it off said the transmission locked up at 6K and the dealer replaced all the gears in it) So idk if that might be the problem or is it just need to be ran hard thru the gears. like you said they are rare and hard to find people that actually ride them and just looking for someone opinion that actually has experience with one.

Honestly never had an issue with my gearbox(knock on wood) but I do know that 6th gear on these bikes have a tendency to let go. By no means is my smr510 a smooth shifting bike. It does feel pretty notchy especially when its getting time to change the oil. I just keep up on the oil changes and try not to do clutchless shifts and bang through the gears hard.

I changed the oil when I bought it with amsoil 10w60 and only put 500 miles on it. so idk appreciate the response.

I change my oil with motorex 10w60 every 500 miles. They changing the oil and make sure you pull all 3 filters. (Paper cartridge and the 2 metal filters on left side of motor)

You call those roads Twisties ? haha Im from England , I call those straight. Have you still got the bike ?. How would it keep up with an XR650R supermoto ? just curious because the XR is the only supermoto ive owned

Those are short little roads. Not anywhere near some of the curvy roads we have. Check out my tail of the dragon. Videos for some twisty roads. Yup still have the bike. As far as keeping up with an 650R it will beat it for sure off the line. As far as top speed the 650R might have it especially with my gearing. Running around 95 mph top speed with me on it (260 lbs). The SMR510 puts out around 59 horsepower compared to 45(stock XR) and 53-55 modded

@@quickshiftoutdoors Nice. Well I was looking to get another XR again as I loved the torque between 30 and 60mph in a split second. Dont know why but mine was alot quicker than anyone elses I knew at the time. If you say the 510 will beat it acceloration wise from 0 to 60mph i will consider getting one

Yes, maintenance is not hard on these bikes. Although frequent valve checks must be done it definitely is not difficult

how about engine rebuilds. camshafts and stuff, is that needed often?

@@Mantayn In all honesty not any more frequent then any other single cylinder 4 stroke dirtbike/4stroke. Some guys go over 14k without motor rebuilds, others blow at 3k. It depends on your riding style and also if proper basic maintenance is being done.

I've used halls-cycles.com and motosport.com both seem to have parts for this bike. Might have to wait a few days but so far only thing I've ordered and had difficulty getting was a generator cover gasket

Yes, as long as you keep on the maintenance i.e checking valves, frequent oil changes with quality oil and cleaning/oiling air filter the bike will be pretty reliable

Quickshift Outdoors ok cool. Im going to see one beta rr 400 next sunday but if I dont buy that one. Then I might get this one. I love the looks and power. The reliability is my biggest concern. Btw Im from Finland ;)

Awesome bike, have the 2010 model. Loving the power and wheelying everywhere. Only problem for me with this bike is fuel range. But its also a good thing because when my petrol is finished so is the senses in my ass.

One more things, this bike weakness in my opinion, are fuel consume. I already ride along the yogyakarta to banyuwangi, and found myself that for 7 liters (full tanks gasolins) only reach 100km distance, and have to find gas station, maybe bigger tanks would be solve it

@@andreaskwngo3898 stock seat is absolutely terrible on these bikes. They are by no means made for comfort. Seat Concepts makes an more comfortable seat for these bikes which I have purchased and reviewed on my channel! As far as daily riding you could but I would not buy this bike to commute with. Maintainence intervals are pretty frequent but doable.
