This is excellent! You not only taught me specifics on this song, but I picked up some useful 12-string ideas as well. Much appreciated, Sir.

this is how i play it its sounds like it should as close to the studio version steve used a lot of over dubs with the studio version so getting perfect would be hard unless you have ways to mix in the over dubs as far as the solo steve was self taught so he did what felt natural to him, same with me i kinda fudge the solo to what feels more natural to me he kinda explains this with his one vid years ago when talking about his solo with anarchy in the uk where he says was not bad for someone not doing knowing what they are doing ,

At 8:26 you should play it in the same position, not like this.

Wrong. Why do people make a “how to play_________” video without knowing how to play the song right themselves? Drives me nuts. This is close, sorta. But not right.

Still got my cd from 30 years ago when my friend introduced me to the band. Love this song, and many thanks for sharing a tutorial. I've always know the basic chords but this really helps with the practice and keeps it fun. I've put this tune on several bar playlists in S. America and everyone likes it, maybe someday soon I'll get to play it live.

That bit at 10.10 was not unlike Johnny Thunders at the time, who liked chuck berry and Keith ect, the pistols came after the new york dolls and that bit sounds similar to a Johnny thunders bit in edit: pirate love from johnny thunders and the heart breakers

Jones changed the way he played the solo quite a lot! One can never find the "definitive" tutorial. I guess most people want something that sounds like the solo from NMTB.

since he was self taught i think steve changed a lot of ways he played just to what felt more natural to him. i have seen other vid where he play same songs differently im sure a lot had to do with not having the studio overdubs

Thanks for dong all the hard work. I've been trying to learn this using a tab book, but while much of it sounds right, there are bits I wasn't sure about. Also, I couldn't get the guitar solo sounding like it should using the tabs. Cheers!

You should show your right hand too. Good tutorial anyway.
@woodfireguitar3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking it out. I weighed the options of zoomed out to catch both hands, or close up on my fretting hand. I figured I'd be able to show more detail zoomed in and add the picking hand to show oddities on the fretting hand as they come. Without moving to a multi camera set up.

@@woodfireguitar the reason I asked you to show your right hand is because I've seen some tuturials for this song where in the comments they criticize the way the teacher is strumming. They say downstrokes should be prominent.

If your gonna call this a lesson, you should learn the song first. You’re in the vicinity but none of that is correct. Not trying to be a dick, but if you’re gonna try and teach other people, you shouldn’t send them down the wrong road.
