Work for 6 hours without a brake ? By law (The Working Time Regulations 1998), employees and workers have the right to the following rest: during the working day - 20-minute rest break if they're expected to work more than 6 hours during the day. between working days - 11 hours' rest between finishing work and starting work. unfortunately workers/drivers are like prostitutes and money is the drug they give you when they want you to forget about the law, safety, your basic rights and freedoms.

I've just passed last week but took my cpc a few months ago, I'm glad this video is here to help me remind me of all the hours and rest periods....no chance of remembering them

This video is actually a great advert to convince people NOT to ever become a lorry driver.

If I do not get a job doing a straightforward run of 8 or 9 hours a day and home for tea I'm not becoming a lorry driver for any money. If you only do 8 -9 hours (including 'other work') 5 days a week then you don't have to worry about all this bullshit.

Allowing longer driving times twice a week and all that. Totally stupid. It needs to be 9 hours a day maximum. And why 10 hours if you are on a 7 day week? And then it contridicts itself by saying you can do a 13 hour shift in 24 hours but can reduce the rest to do 15 hours of shift for 2 days. Totally stupid. It needs to be the same hours every day. Safer, less chance of errors and easier to work with. What idiot designed these hours?

I do truck delivery job to a restaurants delivering 4 pallets with more than 80 packages and weighing 20kgs, problem is the workers are not insured to carry any load so I have to take the load upstairs in their store and some Resturant in the basement store. It’s so dangerous carrying heavy load on stairscase with both hands on the load. This video is helpful

Got the information I needed, , I want to know who made these rules up tho, cos he must of been off his rocker started at a point then rolled with it funny thing is whrn you do driver training you don't get taught how to do the digi card cos they are exempt

Can someone please tell me what breaks I need to be taking if I drive a class 2 skip truck. I usually get to 6hrs working time directive before my driving hours are up. So then I have a 45 minute break which then rests my driving hours. Then I work another 5-5.30 mins working time directive but only around 3-4hr driving do I need to take another break ? So I nearly or get really close to 12hr days

To many laws, too many power hungry arseholes waiting to give you a fine of minimum £ 1000 per offence even if the driver is a minute over driving time it's a ticket... drivers hour needs simplifying to max of 7.5 hours of driving a day. x 1,5 hourly pay for Saturday and double time and same hours as holiday in lieu. I would not drive a HGV 1 for leas than 20GBP and hour.
