Love this! I did improv a ton in and after college, but life happened and I haven't in 4-5 years. Getting back into it, and out of my own way, has been an interesting journey and honestly this has been one of the most helpful (and simple) and immediatly applicable videos I've found to kick off the rust at home. Thank you so much! Fun stuff!

great haircut! You've had a lot of great haircuts. I liek your current one the best I think (current at least at the time of writing - the Experience the Space video) The slight pompadour look, with a good beard = good stuff!

You pronounced everything pretty spot on (which is tough for Star Wars), except for Tatooine. It’s like saying “TAT two WEEN” not “tat TWO in” if you understand my made-up phonetics. I love these videos. I’m watching them back after back. You’re a fantastic teacher. 🎉

Great tips, thank you Sean. Can you suggest other “objects” that are commonly used in scenes that we can use for practice?
@MadeUpTheatre2 ай бұрын
Good question! There's really no perfect answer though. There are common items, like a phone, a cup, computer, pencil...things we use a lot in our normal life do reflect in our scene work. But we should be ready to adapt to any choice even if it's uncommon. The main thing is to choose to be the expert. If you suddenly are endowed as a co-pilot, chances are you haven't controlled a plane before, but in this scene, you do! You get to flips the switches, control the steering wheel, command the intercom...but do it confidently and make it your own. It's funnier or at least more interesting to see someone choose to be active rather choose to passive by saying something like "It's my first day! I don't know what I'm doing!" Don't worry about doing it RIGHT, just do it! Hope that helps!

Hello Sean, can I ask you please, when doing the "Bridge" should the monologists actually say these bridge words out loud or just in their head until they get to the event/thing they wanna talk about?
@MadeUpTheatre3 ай бұрын
I think it's best to just say it. If you think it, then you'll be in your head. It also is a natural phrase to say "BLANK makes me think of BLANK." Hope that helps!

Thanks for the video! I like your phrase no'kay, how inventive. I'd love to see a video on how to progress in a scene that becomes chaotic or over the top very quickly, as well as how to remain connected to your partner(s) in a scene that becomes intensely emotional or high stakes. Thanks for all your work!

Nice, I'm excited to start in-person classes this coming Monday! I like the "be a non-human, like a microwave" concept. Freeing the mind of what my idea of a 'socially acceptable person would act like, and being able to act like humming microwave kid is an exciting adventure.

I'm confused, first was "Try to speak in shorter and concise sentences as opposed to long dragged our sentences" and then there was, "start with dragging out the sentence in a more elaborate manner."
