The mold is real at this time of year! I'm in Portugal and wow--2 weeks away and it's not fun to return home *bleech* Use a mask and gloves when cleaning, buy an air filter and dehumidifier--actually you'll need several for the size of house you have :/

Next year you better buy a tree with roots so you can plant it in your garden. Well, at least it was a real tree, so much better than the ugly plastic ones. Instead of the plastic decorations you could think of glass ones. You most certainly can buy them second hand everywhere in France.

We don't really have the space for a tree like that in our garden, so we'll just compost it. And I do love vintage ornaments - I have a pretty large collection of them in Austin. Haven't had time to collect them here in France yet, but I would love to!

Ohhhh, that color of paint you chose for the walls is delicious! I’m excited to see the finished room. Your little dog is so cute and very happy to see papa! We are thinking that we will end up in Tours for retirement, but Loches and Langeais are two other possibilities that we're planning to check out when we visit next fall. Well you know this is just the highlight reel. We have our complaints and gloomy days too, of course. 😅 But we try to keep things in perspective, and enjoying the little things helps us do that. We're trying to remember that this project is a marathon, not a sprint. Loches is so beautiful - like a fairytale town. Definitely check it out! Bonne anné a vous! ✨🍾🥂

I caught your little “side eye” to the French two hour lunch😁. I’m dating myself but in the 80’s the Italian lunch break was at least 3 hours. Something to be emulated but still initially confusing. Salut!!!! to the European timetable😊

You’re probably really nice people but I’m wondering why you would mispronounce Buble’s name? I’m not even a fan of his but I do respect people’s names. I also find it interesting that France and other countries play American Christmas music. I think music and film may be the best things America has contributed to the world. Though I like film and music from many countries.

It's all just good-natured silliness. Mr. Bublé himself even has a sense of humor about it. He does commercials for a sparkling water company called Bublē (pronounced "bubbly") - where the joke is that he insists it's pronounced "boo-blay" like his name. 😄

Just curious....is it some sort of trick that Christmas trees don't need to be sitting in a tree stand with water in Europe? I have seen others on You Tube with trees like that just stuck in a slab of tree trunk. Does it help them last longer like that?

Usually we do have the trees in the stand and they do need water. Greetings from Germany 🌹🍀

We were unfamiliar with using the tree trunk as a base, so we asked the man working at the garden center. He advised us to just spritz the tree with water occasionally and also keep the trunk slab a bit wet. He said as long as the tree isn't next to a heat source, it should last about 3 weeks. And it has been great - not looking dry at all!

@@AustintoAmboise our trees always drink a lot of water from the treestand. We give him some every day. And without a heat source. We have him till the end of January.
