What I really like about this song (because this song is terrible - which I think is intended) is the reference to it in the final song of the album

More technical and/or rhythmical than early P.O.S. But somehow I stick with the old P.O.S. Knowing that every single album of their career was a more or less pleasant surprise (think of "Be" after "Remedy Lane", very different but so beautiful) I now think that Scarsick was their last album that touched me. Sure the polyrhythmic stuff they do nowadays is impressive,...but it doesn't make me cry anymore. When I think of Remedy Lane:😭

In the chorus there is a sense of dialogue between Daniel and the band, that probably mimics a dialogue between two loved ones. Only when I read the lyrics while listening to the song I realized it. Quite freaking awesome I must say, gives the song a lot of depth and thought.

Then listen to the last song of the record! In the Passing Light of Day they both reference this song and "meaningless" in such a remorseful way. And you realize (or I did) that these two really terrible songs for a relationship is just a setup for the conclusional track.

I have a love hate relationship with this song. whenever I listen to it (can't refrain myself from doing it, amazing sound) my inner voice keeps saying, "man, you cheated on her and now trying to find excuses saying you are not here, I couldn't control myself, you don't own me and all the blah blah. just break up dude. obviously, you feel suffocated so do something for yourself and finish it!" this toxic mysterious man bullshit just drives me insane. yet, I still love the song.

In my opinion he talks about a struggle that some man have at some point in their lives, specially if they are middly successful. I don't think is toxic. Is a real struggle. And I love the way he wrote it, just real, raw as is an uncomfortable truth.
