Alot of times the machine shop is several days out and to make a quick turnaround I just price new manifolds. They have gotten cheaper and more plentiful.

Why replace and go through the delay of getting a new unit, just take it to a machine shop and have it fly cut to correct it, cost about the same as new an would still correct the problem with the removal of only a few thousandths off the manifold, just remember to take a corresponding amount of the bolts to compensate, problem solved!!!

Is that a ford escape by chance? Bought one for my wife and we have had nothing but issues since we got it. As soon as the warranty expired we started getting coolant intrusion. Also I have a appt for a front right noise in her wheel. I’ll never buy a ford again

Unless you’re vacuuming the system which I would say this guy is putting air into it will damage components. There are specific glow in the dark compressor oils than can be injected into the system to find leaks with a black light and yellow goggles if you intend on not opening lines
@jaschalindesmith9525
@jaschalindesmith9525 2 ай бұрын
This is an easier way to test when the system comes in empty. I did see oil everywhere. To determine if it was the seals or the compressor housing this is the easiest way. Instead of putting freon into the system that I know is already leaking, and putting all those cfc's into the atmosphere. I use a robinair 34288NI machine that I own. How many techs do you know that own their own ac machine? I love what I do and thanks for watching. Been wrenching for 20+ years.

Dont use compressed air, as someone else stated you get moisture in. Im a field service tech you can get 100% nitrogen bottles to pressure test, itll take longer then 20 minutes to boil the moisture past the tx valve even after replacing the reciever dryer. Just because it works right now for you didn't mean the moisture isnt damaging the conpressor slowly over 10s of thousands of miles you might not know that the compressor failed prematurely 20,000 miles later because the customer probably thought that was a reasonable time.
@jaschalindesmith9525
@jaschalindesmith9525 2 ай бұрын
Not everyone will aggree with my methods. I get your point about the moisture. Being that the system was already at atmosphere pressure its not difficult to conclude that the system has been open to atmosphere. 20 minutes is plenty imo to boil out any moisture. I rarely get comebacks. Less than 1%

@@jaschalindesmith9525 no worries mate i 100% understand keep doing whats working, but remember the air in your tank will have alot more moistoure then atmosphere. appreate the honest and fair reply, you see alot of people get offended when people mention other methods to complete a repair. keep up the good work.

Should never use compressed air on any system, any good tech would use Nitrogen to pressurise to check for leaks
@jaschalindesmith9525
@jaschalindesmith9525 2 ай бұрын
As long as it's vacuumed down for 20 minutes to get any and all moisture out. Water boils and is removed under full vacuum. Most people don't have access to nitrogen, and if you're referring to a nitrogen tire filler it only gets it to like 30% nitrogen anyways. Still need to do 20 minutes vacuum.

If you do your due diligence and sniff the ports with a sniffer, you will find that 7 out of 10 will be leaking after a service. It just makes sense. Like replacing the drain plug gasket every time you do an oil change.
