What a fabulous group of people here... So wonderful to see folks living life, inviting you in, and sharing. Please pass this along if possible or perhaps they might see this comment and know how much they are appreciated. Still thinking a little about your edits. Thanks for map shots and the delayed shots of signs/places. What a great place to ride. Truly amazing. Zaruma is a quite a lovely city. What else to say? Oh wait, sitting on top of a gold mine! Wow, I'm a little behind! Now I get a mini Aleona binge! It is obvious you are putting more time into edits, thank you again for bringing us along and making that effort to create lovely content. You got the four food groups in spades on this trip: dirt, loose rocks, sand, and beautiful views ; -). Love the transition from above the clouds, through, then under... Love your response to the question "is this good for you blog?". Good for my soul. Yes! I love the idea there - you are not doing this strictly for 'publicity', it really is your passion. Then to loose a camera! You know there is a little place to attach a safety cord for exactly that situation? I've never really taken the time to figure out what cord to use, it's a pretty small hole. Well, that was a delightful way to get back into your videos. Wonderful...

There seems be to a lack of appreciation for cause and effect with drivers in Ecuador in their choosing to not turn on headlights in poor visibility. It’s as if they purposely don’t put on their headlights in order to not have to replace the bulbs for lack of financial means.
@SophisticatedBob5 күн бұрын
That's not it at all. They grew up here, they've driven these roads so much they know each bump, turn, and driveway. That leads to familiarity which leads to ignoring the road because they know it so well. And do I know this? I was told that by a bus driver.
@alyoka.travels5 күн бұрын
Either way is dangerous for the other drivers, you may know the road but you don’t know who’s in front or behind you.

"if this were Europe, this wall would be covered with some kind of net to protect the road from falling rocks" - yes. It would also be closed for 2-5 years at a time while they renew said nets. Some roads where I live have been under construction for literally several years, either necessitating 30km detours or 30min wait times depending on how they're organising it. Only to then reopen with horrible potholes caused by machinery, rockfall warning signs newly replaced by "severe road damage, speed limit 30km/h" signs. Which then necessitates closing up again a few months later for two years to replace the asphalt, and then realize the nets got damaged in road constructions, so the whole circle starts again.
@SophisticatedBob5 күн бұрын
Here in Ecuador, I've seen people get out of their cars and trucks, and move the fallen rocks so they, and others, can pass. It's an amazing thing to see. On the road to Guayaquil once I saw a big truck just push a large rock out of the middle of the road to the side of the street while others just sat patiently and waited. It's a unique place for sure.
@alyoka.travels5 күн бұрын
Oh I never saw that side of the story, thank you for sharing it. In Denmark there are no mountains and I’ve never experienced roads being closed for an extended period of time 🫣
@alyoka.travels5 күн бұрын
@sophisticatedBob yeah, that’s the power of common people that I’ve experienced a lot while traveling these countries. And it’s just so cool!
@LonesomeDuckling5 күн бұрын
@@alyoka.travels currently several of my favourite "extend the daily commute to 80+km" roads have been closed since at least June. Two particularly notorious ones just reopened a couple of months ago after being closed 8-10 months a year for 5+ years (they reopened them during the coldest parts of the year each year because, well, ice and snow prohibit most construction work). German governments have this nasty habit of starting ALL the projects and then just... leaving them closed and alternating which they work on because they have a fraction of the crews they'd need to actually get them done. But hey, we're talking about the country where fax machines are still the most common method of transferring paperwork, half the stores only accept cash, and most villages don't have stable internet access.

The view with all the disgusting fake climate change windmills. Is any or their electric cheaper? do they even have electric 24/7 like everyone else?? Politicians don't want windmills where they live because they can't stand to look at them either. 🙄 They let you park your bike in the dining room??? seriously??? 🤣🤣 Maybe people would think it was a place to eat their meal and pay extra. 😁 another great video. thanks so much. ah, I was smart enough to put it on cc and it translated what he was saying. kewl. thanks. 🙂 How much cooler was it in the mine shaft? underground is always much cooler than outside temps. Can't believe they let you go by yourself down and old mine. Someone could be waiting for you down their. YIKES. thanks again. 🙂
@alyoka.travels5 күн бұрын
I love windmills, they’re tall and elegant 🥰 and powerful 😁 don’t know about Ecuador but in Denmark, the wind power generates 60% of electricity. And it might not be cheap but definitely less harmful to the environment and more sustainable in the long run than burning coal 👌 I’m not a politician but wouldn’t mind a house with windmills view ☺️
