I'm from Iloilo, but in my opinion, buildings don't really matter. What makes our city unique is how the local government has preserved the historical places in Calle Real, maintained clean rivers, and renovated all the district plazas to make them safe for everyone to enjoy and walk around with their families. I think the view you see when you walk along the Esplanade and other river parks is far better than the buildings in Megaworld. After we suffered from the devastating Typhoon Frank in 2008, the LGUs, with the help of government departments, built the flood control project, and since that day, we haven't experienced severe flooding. To add to that, our local cuisines and restaurants are also well preserved. Iloilo is not perfect, but it is a very livable city.

bacolod and cebu are beautiful cities too. even though we are from iloilo, we go on vacations in both cities. when we go there, we enjoy the place, we focus on what is beautiful and not on their imperfections. no city is perfect. each has their own particular downsides. when a person criticizes a city, it does not speak of the city, but it sure speaks a lot about the critic. you can only comment on what you focus on. iloilo has lots of problems, just like all the cities in the philippines, but we are trying to make our city beautiful by making our city beautiful, not by putting other cities down. remember, when you blow the candle of others, it does not make yours shine any brighter. iloilo city is indeed very small, but we are trying to make it beautiful as much as we are able to. there is no competition here. we are just glad that our city is progressing and we are glad to share that with others, too. thanks.

Dilapidated old buildings is nothing to be proud of. Bacolod is way way better.

Edi dun ka lol 😂😂😂 bacolod's atmosphere cannot compare to Iloilo's ever, you have cramped roads, mismanaged parking around every corner, and you have to fight for your life just to even walk on a sidewalk... Iloilo is not perfect, but from what I've seen, it is one of the better cities outside of Manila...

LOL), bigger population with obviously a bigger crime rate than Iloilo and an economy dependent on sugarcane farming WITH A SURPLUS OF OFFICES because services prefer Iloilo... talk your talk but please don't be blinded by ur silly biases 😂

Insurgency still exist, squatters, crime infested inspite of a very tiny population, flooding still exist inspite of spending billions funded by national govt. Yes Bacolod is sugarcane, Iloilo is Rice. Bacolod is the future of western Visayas while Iloilo is still dwelling in the past, ( queen city of the South?)🤣

That Socorro Drug Store has been there since in the 70'S. I remember I was still very young and it's already there. They occupy the front area of the old building. Every time I come home for a vacation and pass by Calle Real I can see this ugly dilapidated structure of Socorro Drug Store. Ano na man pulubi na o kuripot lang and owner sang drug store nga na?

I dont want to get my hopes up. Being familiar with the place, this beautiful project will just be turned into a billion peso talipapa. Ive seen this happen in other projects throughout iloilo. If not, it will be tirned into rest stops or parking spaces by inconsiderate motorists or ten wheeler trucks. Enjoy while it still new and beautiful because it dies quickly.

My only concern is that the intersection does not have any traffic lights (Pakiad,Sooc,Oton). I hope the traffic lights will be installed soon to avoid future major vehicular and pedestrian accidents. It is necessary to place speed limit signs on the right side of the road and ensure that they are visible to motorists. Additionally, peace and order should be maintained by placing police outposts in the area. The shanties/informal settlements that were using the sidewalk for their businesses should be relocated. It's an eyesore for the passersby, especially for local and foreign tourists who're visiting the city.

Trash all over there so NASTY & DIRTY!!!! Nothing to be proud of that!!!! I just went home and stayed in St. Honore owned by my relatives. I can see trash everywhere over the wall where squatters live.

We stayed at my sister-in-law's condo at St. Honore. I can see the trash all over the place at the other side of the wall. There are lots of squatters living in the vacant lots and they just pile their trash and looks so nasty !!!! They don't care if people in those condos can see their NASTY, DIRTY trash all over the place! Iloilo gov't. do something about it. It as so SHAMEFUL!!!!

i am truly sorry that that was your experience here...change is an uphill battle. we are getting there, although it's a very slow and difficult process. i have been living in this city for a very long time and what i see now is a totally different city than 25 years ago. change takes time. sometimes, we are the change that we want to see. @@DronePilotIloilo Dont be so fast to trust these comments on youtube, these people are likely just some Philippines haters that are fans of elsewhere, no one says any of this crap about any of the other countries in the region for whatever reason but some complaint like this always seems to appear about PH, do other countries not run into the same type of issues if they are actually issues? I never see such comments on other countries that get this kind of coverage, but magically with PH this kind of comment shows up nothing but bs negativity, it's interesting to say the least

Those are makeshift shelters of the construction workers. Maybe the lot owner let them stay there temporarily while the project is ongoing.

What an eyesore. They just need to repaint the buildings in the downtown Iloilo rather than built highrise building there. If you go to another countries they tried their best to preserve their old villages for tourism purposes.
