I ,highly recommend turning off stage 3 since inadvertent use can be a disaster. One person can lock up the entire railroad by careless button pressing. I will also drop stage 2 and restrict my -50 to only stage 1. Our club recently had a member hit the emergency stop thrice on an NCE hammerhead during a public show. We had to reboot the whole railroad to recover. Messy.

A question on the setup of these brake lights: If one is wiring in for the brake lights, which function wire would be used for the brake lights? Would it be off the Yellow (F0R) or another lead? The subject car receiving this decoder is an older Bowser (Metal Body) PCC car. Thanks in advance

I have a Bachmann rs3 with TCS 'Sound Value' on board. Anybody know how to switch to 'manual notching mode' , which has no automatic notching at all. All done with F10 (up) and F11 (down). As is, the decoder notches up way too soon. You have to REPEATEDLY press F11 to get it to ramp down. Also, I would like to know how to REMAP F10 to F7, and F11 to F9. Suggestions?

What makes this exclusive? I use it on NCE and Engine Driver all the time. So far I have seen no true difference between either of those and my UWT.
@stuartbaker3595
@stuartbaker3595 Жыл бұрын
@JamesBrassill While it is true that other systems offer a feature they also call "Yard Mode", the TCS throttles offer many unique Yard Mode capabilities that are, as far as I know, currently exclusive to the TCS Throttle. They include: - The ability to enable/disable Yard Mode at any time with a single button press - On the UWT-50, T-50, and LT-50, the "3-dot" soft key button is configured for this by default. It may be moved through user configuration. - On the UWT-100, this feature may be configured onto any one of the soft key buttons through user configuration. - The UWT-50P (potentiomenter version) includes a mechanical "detent" at the midway point, which is factory calibrated to "zero" speed in yard mode. - The UWT-50P can instantly "flip" the rotational orientation with a single click of the direction button in order to match the orientation of the locomotive on the layout. - The UWT-100 and encoder versions of the UWT50, T-50, and LT-50 can always return to zero speed by tactile feel only, even with heavy momentum enabled. No reason to validate the commanded speed by looking at the LCD. - Highly configurable in tweaking the desired behavior. - Yard mode setting is a per locomotive setting. Recall remembers the previous setting for a given locomotive. Many of these exclusive features are designed so that the user can always return the locomotive to zero speed without having to look at the throttle LCD or "guess" where the zero location is. That is one of the main drawbacks of yard mode in NCE based throttles such as the ProCab and Cab-06.
@JamesBrassill
@JamesBrassill Жыл бұрын
@@stuartbaker3595 so its a bit disingenuous to call yard mode exclusive as it implies only TCS has it. The marketing should be updated to say Yard mode with exclusive features. "Others have it, but we do it right." It is nicely done on the UWT throttles.

Desh, You would need a NCE Powercab or a NCE Command Station and Cab bus for this to work.

These are just adding a wifi host for wifi throttles to the NCE Cab Bus... so as already stated, you'd need a Power Cab, or other command station to hook into the Cab Bus of.... There IS a 5A wifi system out there that is a standalone item that would allow for wifi throttles and doesn't need any other command stations or boosters, but I don't know much about that just yet...if I remember correctly it was also from wifitrax

Hi Can this tiny KA be used in small HO locomotives?
@mathuetax
@mathuetax Жыл бұрын
Looking at the website indicates no, they have other KA modules for HO.
@Steve_Larson
@Steve_Larson Жыл бұрын
If it only runs an N scale locomotive for 1 to 2 seconds, a HO motor that is twice the size would likely be half of that or less (depending on motor efficiency). N scale locomotives typically draw .150 to .250 amps. A small HO locomotive that is very efficient *might* benefit from a unit this small (guessing roughly half a second).

Thank you for this great question! Due to space limitations, hardware constraints, and decoder hardware. We would not be able to fit a KeepAlive® that is just as big as this one. If we did put built-in KeepAlive for some of our smaller N Scale boards, the Capacitors would be smaller than this external KeepAlive®. -Carson

Hmmm,, I understand the concept of a keep alive. For some people could be a helpful thing. I for one would rather make sure that all my ducks are in row when it comes to layout construction. Yes the stuttering is a PIA, but that tells me to troubleshoot the issue. Which in turn teaches one to pay attention to detail. Kudos to TCS for bringing this to market!
