It’s interesting that we developed a superior capability than the US, in the Brimstone II Missile compared to the Hellfire. Yet they could never bring themselves to buy our product, a British / European Product, despite their insatiable willingness and expectation, that we buy numerous defence equipment capabilities from them, in order of course to uphold the special (albeit somewhat one way) Anglo-US relationship!

Its now 2024 and a lot of those bases have gone and the British armed force is a fraction of what it was and i doubt it could even defend itself any more or its bases over seas. When i served from 1971 to 1987 there was 50 times more over seas bases and the same for the Uk, now there is not much left and the only time most go overseas is to a war zone.

In this day and age of a new style cold war with multiple kinds of arms races, ideology, different nations, different cultures all wanted something different except wanted to destroy world peace and free nations. In this world the long reigning powerful economic and strong defense infrastructure nations that are free and democratic need to makes a defense pact now. A defense now just like nato one that gives each member intelligence tools personell equipment loans etc for quick procurement of weapons one nations doesn't have but needs and other weapons it needs soon but can't build alone or can't build fast alone. With China russia north korea Iran along with shifty nations like Brazil south Africa Belarus arming up with wmds and larger militaries Mid Level Nations like Canada France Australia New Zealand Belgium Netherlands Germany Italy sweden finland norway Spain Poland South Korea Japan Need to Collaborate in all Defense Sectors from Home defense to overseas defense. For example france doesn't have a arctic defense problem but canada does and it's right on canadas doorstep. And is being taken over my russia and china frances enemies. So it would be prudent for France to work with Canada to build Advanced defense systems, buy from france already built defense systems and Loan defense systems immediately as to not leave gaps. And in exchange france and any other ally would get money favors there enemy hurt or beaten or injured or simply give France a big iou for what france needs and wants. So Canada needs to defend the arctic from russia China the must. Canada needs to Track follow study enemies submarines stealthy and know what they got where they are and if there going to attack or come in to our territory again helping our allies. And lastly our subs loaned by france or whatever ally we'd see what we need for our future subs and then work towards it and share Intelligence. And be able to defend and field large amounts of high tech defense for low costs. Canada could Use Conventional powered and nuclear powered attack subs. Nuclear capable of arctic patrols and long range following of nuclear icbms doomsday subs, we could have use of new allied nuclear slcm and slbm nuclear and conventional warheads along with modern torpedoes air defense sea defense and land attack submarine missiles, or land based short medium Intercontinental missiles, long range rock systems, attack helicopters, personell carriers tanks aircraft carriers amphibious assault ships spies signal intelligence electronic Intelligence and on and on and on and on. Would be like a nato alliance but more research and devolpement and more capabilities of building better equipment weapons at a faster rate and cheaper price and on top of all that in an ever changing world landscape we wouldn't be left with any gaps say if russia decided to invade ukraine Israel invaded Palestinian north korea invaded south korea or Vietnam or China attack Taiwan or a submarine or nuclear build up or new arms race started we could out produced the competition with more, better quality,faster procurement and mainly at lower costs and without leaving defense gaps while we're at it like we've been doing worldwide for the middle power since the thaw of the cold war of the 70s and now look at some allies spending insane money billions close to trillions and still not even have 1 percent of its defense needs

Question, what is platform is/was the Sea Dart fired from, example/reference the U.S Variant was fired from the Mk-26 GMLS?
@admiralmallard7500 Жыл бұрын
Don't think they really had a specific name, at least not one theres much info about. They're usually just referred to via the weapons they fire. Plus this system was only ever installed on T42 destroyers

@@admiralmallard7500 They were mounted on the Invincible class light carriers too. Later they were removed. The type 82 HMS Bristol had it as well
@MrHws5mp7 ай бұрын
The RN never had multi-purpose launchers like the USN before the VLS era. For Sea Dart, both missile and launcher were known as GWS-30. HMS Bristol (the only Type 82 destroyer ever built) had a GWS-30 Mod 0 launcher and a 40-round magazine. Type 42 destroyers (seen in the video) and Invincible class aircraft carriers had the lighter GWS-30 Mod 1 launcher with a 22-round magazine. The stretched Type 42 Batch 3 destroyers had the same magazine but also, allegedly, had "provision" to carry 15 more missiles. Open sources aren't clear on exactly how that worked: it might be that the extra missiles were crated in a compartment next to the magazine and had to be manually loaded into it, or it might have been that there was space in the design to extend the magazine during a major refit.

Canadian Forces Base Suffield in Alberta, is the largest military training area in Canada at approx. 2,700 square Kilometres. In addition to being used by the Canadian Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force, the British Army uses the large land mass for live artillery fire and tank maneuvers.
